Therefore, the people may suffer from pain in the epigastrium corresponding to the heart, obstruction in the four limbs, hypochondriac regions, pharynx, and diaphragm, difficulty in swallowing food, and in severe cases, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), vertigo (dizziness and spinning sensation), blindness or inability to recognize people, tendency to stiffen and fall suddenly, rigidity of sinews and bones with loss of function, sudden collapse with loss of consciousness.
Therefore, the people may suffer from shortness of breath (Qi deficiency), sores and ulcers, carbuncles and swelling, distension in the hypochondriac, chest, back, head, face, and four limbs, skin lesions, apoplexy (stroke), vomiting and hiccups, convulsions, bone pain and joint ache, as well as diarrhea resembling a water flow, warm malaria (Wen Nue), sudden severe abdominal pain, hemorrhage flowing like water, depletion of essence and fluid, red eyes and heart heat, and in severe cases, mental confusion and oppression, inner restlessness and vexation.
Therefore, the people may suffer from fullness and distension in the heart and abdomen, borborygmus (abdominal rumbling) with frequent defecation, and in severe cases, heart pain and hypochondriac pain.
Therefore, the people may suffer from cough and rebellious Qi, fullness in the heart and abdomen radiating to the lower abdomen, tendency for sudden severe pain, inability to turn the body left or right, dry throat, dusty and dull complexion. This is because Metal is excessive and Wood is diseased.
Therefore, the people may suffer from cold pathogen invading the heart causing heart pain, lumbar spine pain, stiffness and inconvenience in large joints, tendency for syncope (Jue), hard masses and abdominal fullness. This is because Yin invades Yang.
From Da Han (Great Cold) to Li Chun (Start of Spring) and Chun Fen (Spring Equinox), it is the position of Jueyin Wind-Wood. Yang Qi begins to govern but its energy is slight. Thus it is said: When Shaoyang receives the Jiazi day, the beginning of the year is usually calculated based on this, starting with Da Han at the first Qi, divided into six cycles. Jiazi corresponds to the Six Qi, extending downwards for one month. The first and second months belong to Shaoyang, and the situation of the Three Yin and Three Yang is the same.
From Chun Fen (Spring Equinox) to Xiao Man (Grain Buds), it is the position of Shaoyin Ministerial Fire. Between the clarity of Yang Qi, it is also the position of Yangming.
From Xiao Man (Grain Buds) to Da Shu (Great Heat), it is the position of Shaoyang Ministerial Fire. Yang Qi expands, and all things mature; thus it is also called Taiyang Prosperous. Its pulse is surging, large, and long. The weather and all things correspond; the flourishing and decline of human pulses are similar. The creation and transformation follow the same pattern.
From Da Shu (Great Heat) to Qiu Fen (Autumn Equinox), it is the position of Taiyin Damp-Earth. The weather responds auspiciously; after summer, Yin Qi has begun to govern, thus it is called Taiyin Prosperous. These Three Yin and Three Yang differ from the Heaven-Weather Mark and Root Yin-Yang. The pulse is slow, large, and long. When Dry-Metal is prosperous, the pulse is tight, fine, short, and choppy. Since all things are dry, this is clearly visible.
From Qiu Fen (Autumn Equinox) to Xiao Xue (Minor Snow), it is the position of Yangming Dry-Metal. Qi declines and Yin becomes abundant, thus it is said that Metal Qi is prosperous, and its pulse is fine and minute.
