Method 1: Assume a squatting position and extend the right foot. Hold the left knee with both hands, straighten the waist, inhale through the nose to the maximum capacity, repeating for seven breaths. This method eliminates difficulties in flexion, extension, bowing, and rising; it removes pain, numbness (Bi syndrome), wind pathogens in the shank bone, dim vision, and deafness.
Method 2: Assume a squatting position and extend the left foot. Hold the right knee with both hands, straighten the waist, inhale through the nose to the maximum capacity, repeating for seven breaths, while extending the toes outward. This method eliminates difficulties in flexion, extension, bowing, and rising; it removes pain in the shank bone. Another version states it also removes wind pathogens, dim vision, and deafness.
Method 3: Inhale through the nose while holding the nose with the left hand. This method removes dim vision and excessive tearing. Inhale through the nose with the mouth closed, to the maximum capacity, repeating for seven breaths. This removes accumulated blood and qi stagnation under the hypochondrium.
Method 4: Sit upright with the waist straightened. Slowly inhale through the nose while holding the nose with the right hand. This method removes dim vision and painful tearing. Close the eyes and exhale. The same method applies to nasal polyps and deafness. It also removes Cold Damage (Shanghan) and headache with dizziness. All these conditions should be treated until sweating occurs as the limit.
Method 5: Squat and lift the five toes of the feet with both hands to their maximum extent. This corrects the imbalance of Qi in the Five Zang Organs. It treats deafness and blurred vision. Long-term practice can turn white hair black again.
Method 6: Extend the toes of both feet, stopping after five breaths. Stretch the waist. This removes back numbness and hemiplegia, making the ears acute. Long-term practice ensures no hindrance to the eyes, ears, and other sensory roots.
Method 7: Extend the left lower leg and bend the right knee, pressing down to the limit, stopping after five breaths. This draws out Lung Qi, removes Wind-Deficiency diseases, and clarifies vision. According to classics, by drawing out Qi from the Lungs, one removes Wind-Deficiency diseases and clarifies vision, seeing colors at night just as clearly as during the day.
Method 8: At cockcrow, rub both hands together until warm, then apply them to the eyes (moxibustion-like warming). Repeat three times. Press the eyes with fingers; rotating left and right reveals divine light, clarifying vision and preventing disease.
Method 9: Sit facing East, hold the breath, then restore normal breathing. Use the middle fingers of both hands, moistened with saliva fourteen times (two sets of seven), rub them together, and wipe the eyes. This clarifies vision. Rinse the mouth and wash the eyes with sweet spring water to remove cataracts and dirt, making the eyes clear. Internally, use Qi to cleanse the body; internally, keep the eyeballs pure; externally, wash away dust and obstacles.
Method 10: Perform supine stretching three times. Scratch the meridians on both sides of the neck with fingernails five times. This clarifies vision. Lie flat, tilt the head backward, and stretch upward three times. Scratch the major meridians on both sides of the neck with fingernails five times. This removes dim vision. Long-term practice allows seeing colors at night. If practiced continuously without cessation, one may perceive all ten directions without limits.
Method 11: When waking at cockcrow, first bend the left hand, consume a little salt, and rub fingers together. Chant: "The daughter of Queen Mother of the West is named Yiyu; bestow upon me eyes." Receive this into the mouth. Then meticulously massage the form. At cockcrow, apply saliva fourteen times. This removes visual obscurity, allowing clear vision over ten thousand li and seeing all four directions. Swallow fourteen mouthfuls of saliva. Massage the eyes with warm fingers fourteen times. This keeps the eyes open (alert).
