Motherwort (Leonurus japonicus) is not limited in quantity; the roots, stems, and leaves are washed clean, pounded into a paste in a stone mortar, and filtered through cloth to obtain a concentrated juice. The juice is poured into a clay pot and boiled over high heat until it resembles dark brown sugar in color. It is then stored in porcelain bottles. Each time, one teaspoon is taken, administered with specific decoctions as listed below, which yields excellent results.

For sharp pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions before pregnancy, restless fetus, and continuous bleeding, administer with a decoction of Gastrodiae Rhizoma (Qinjiao), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), and Glutinous Rice (Nuomi).

For abdominal pain accompanied by sounds, or alternating chills and fever resembling malaria during pregnancy or postpartum, administer with rice water.

At the time of delivery and postpartum, take one pill first, dissolved in fresh child's urine (Tongbian) and wine. This medicine calms the soul, regulates blood and promotes qi flow, prevents various diseases, breaks blood stasis, relieves pain, nourishes vessels, and regulates meridians; its efficacy is significant.

For retained placenta after delivery, lingering in the uterus, as well as all difficult labors, malpresentations, or dead fetus before delivery: as stated in medical classics, "if not expelled, the abdomen becomes distended and the epigastrium feels stifling," administer with a decoction of stir-fried salt.

For wind-stroke after delivery, characterized by locked jaw, hemiplegia, aphasia, and muteness, dissolve half with fresh child's urine and half with wine.

For postpartum asthma, cough, chest oppression, acid regurgitation, edema of the face and eyes, pain in hands and feet, and weakness in movement, administer with warm wine.

For postpartum pain in both temporal regions, yawning, palpitations, shortness of breath, emaciation of limbs, loss of appetite, wind-blood causing body heat, numbness in hands and feet, and pain in all joints, administer with rice water.

For postpartum visual darkness, blood vertigo, blood-heat, thirst, restlessness, hallucinations (seeing spirits), delirium, and unconsciousness, administer with natural juice of Menthae Haplocalycis Herba (Bohe); if concentrated decoction is unavailable, use half fresh child's urine and half wine.

For postpartum dirty complexion, red face, five-palm heat, formation of blood clumps, running pain in the umbilical/abdominal region, intermittent chills and fever, and cold sweats, administer with half fresh child's urine and half wine; Menthae Haplocalycis Herba decoction is also acceptable.

For postpartum incomplete expulsion of lochia and blood stasis, stagnation causing sharp pain in the umbilical/abdominal region, rising foul matter causing chest fullness and oppression, administer with fresh child's urine and wine.

For postpartum cases within one month where qi and blood are blocked, causing cough, weakness in four limbs, spontaneous sweating at night, irregular menstruation, which if untreated for long becomes bone-steaming consumption (Gu Zheng Zhai Ji), dissolve with half fresh child's urine and half wine.

For postpartum epistaxis, dry mouth, and black tongue, dissolve with fresh child's urine.

For postpartum obstruction of urination and defecation, irritability, and bitter taste in the mouth, administer with natural juice of Menthae Haplocalycis Herba; if fresh is unavailable, use a concentrated decoction of dried herb.

For postpartum bloody and white dysentery, administer with rice water.

For postpartum discharge of bloody fluid, administer with a concentrated decoction of Jujubae Fructus (Zao).

For postpartum leukorrhea (red and white discharge), administer with Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin) and Artemisiae Argyi Folium (Aiye) decoction.

For metrorrhagia and metrostaxis (blood flooding and spotting), administer with glutinous rice decoction.

For women infertile for a long time, administer with warm wine, one to thirty to fifty pills daily; this will certainly be effective.

For breast engorgement pain or abscess formation, grind the medicine into powder, mix with water, apply to the breast overnight for self-healing, or apply fresh pounded herb directly.

The above nineteen conditions have clear administration methods and proven efficacy; they cannot be fully described here, but users will know their wonder.
