Lu Rong (Deer Antler Glue, processed with butter) Qilin Jie (Dragon's Blood) Hu Jing Gu (Tiger Tibia Bone, sliced and processed with butter) Niu Xi (Achyranthes Root, soaked in wine) Gou Ji (Cibotium Rhizome, hair removed by scorching), all in equal parts. Process the above herbs and grind into fine powder; this constitutes the material for Wu Shou Dan (Five Beasts Pill). Take one tael of Chen Sha (Cinnabar) ground into powder. Take one large Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Root), remove skin and umbilical scar, hollow out the center and remove the core, then insert the Cinnabar powder inside. Take one Xuan Mu Gua (Chaenomeles Fruit), remove the core, peel off the skin, place the prepared Fu Zi inside the Mu Gua, cover the opening of the Fu Zi with its own powder, place it upright in a silver or stone pot, and steam over water until the Fu Zi is completely soft and breaks cleanly to reveal a white interior. This produces San Kui Dan (Three Containers Pill). Grind the San Kui Dan into a paste, mix evenly with the Wu Shou powder, and form pills. Size like chicken beans, taken with Mu Gua Wine.
