Treats jaundice caused by alcohol accumulation (Jiuji), with difficulty in urination, having the effects of clearing heat and removing dampness.
Yinchen (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba), Zhuling (Polyporus), Fuling (Poria), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (stir-fried with soil, each 1 qian), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (3 fen). When Spleen Earth is deficient, it is susceptible to Dampness; Dampness generates Heat. When Damp-Heat invades the Spleen, the yellow color of the central region becomes visible. Alcohol is also a product of Damp-Heat, hence both are treated together. Yinchen specifically regulates Damp-Heat and is essential for treating jaundice. Assisted by Zhuling and Zexie, body fluids are separated into the Bladder. Assisted by Baizhu and Fuling, Spleen Earth is strengthened to overcome Dampness. The function of Guizhi is to guide all herbs directly to the site of Heat, acting as vanguard troops.
Treats Huangpang disease (yellowish swelling/edema). Suitable for those with coarse diets, as they lack rich nourishment internally, requiring only drying of Dampness.
