Injuries caused by mad dogs or venomous snakes often result in death. Although medical texts record treatment methods, their efficacy is not significant. Only the "Wusheng Dan" (Five Sages Pill) passed down by the Han family of Xiaoshan has shown miraculous effects, saving countless lives. The Han family only prepared this medicine to distribute freely and kept it secret from others. Zhuoyan Siduo, a magistrate from Yinxian serving in Kaihua County, learned from his colleague Wang Muzhai and obtained this prescription from Shiboqian, which was then shown to him. Wang Muzhai enjoyed collecting single-herb prescriptions and preparing medicines for public distribution. He obtained this prescription from a close relative, who had secretly acquired it from the Han family. Wang Muzhai prepared the medicine according to the prescription to save people, achieving immediate results in every case. Therefore, he recorded it to facilitate its wider dissemination.

Grind the above medicines into a fine powder. For males, use a bamboo earpick to apply the powder seven times to the inner canthus near the nose; repeat seven times after one day, and again seven times after another day. Even severe injuries will heal spontaneously. If bitten by a dog more than twenty days prior, it is untreatable. If mutton is mistakenly consumed after applying the medicine, re-treatment is required; however, if delayed beyond twenty days, it is also untreatable. Avoid mutton and other "fa-wu" (stimulating foods that may exacerbate disease) for forty-nine days. This prescription also treats suffocation due to Sha syndrome (sand illness), epidemic cold damage (Shanghan), and conditions where pathogenic factors are trapped and cannot be vented. Apply this medicine to the inner canthus as well: left side for males, right side for females.
(Bingzhang) Note: There are many similar prescriptions with varying dosages. I have compiled them in *Goushang Buchuan* (Supplement to Dog Bite Treatments); they should be consulted cross-referentially. Hu Qing Yu Tang Hall in Hangzhou, under the former director Mr. Xueyan, named this prescription "Longhu Huadu Dan" (Dragon-Tiger Detoxification Pill). It involves writing talismans with the characters "Dragon" and "Tiger," burning them, and adding the ashes to the medicine, representing another method.
Excellent single-herb prescriptions do not necessarily originate from medical books; often, those circulated among villagers can cure diseases with immediate effect. Shen Yu, a servant woman from Wujiang, served in my household and once transmitted several prescriptions. All proved effective upon testing. They are recorded in detail below.
Hemorrhoids: Decoct Pixiao (Mirabilite) in water, fumigate and wash the affected area while hot. This prescription is effective for heat-toxin conditions.
Pediatric Snow Mouth Sores (Thrush): Wipe the affected area with juice of Malan Tou (Kalimeris indica).
Ocular Tinea: Cover a large bowl with cloth, place late-season rice bran on the cloth, ignite the bran to produce liquid, collect the drippings in the bowl, and apply to the affected area.
(Bingzhang) Note: Before hemorrhoids ulcerate, regardless of internal or external type, fresh Tu Niuxi (Achyranthes bidentata) including roots and leaves should be crushed, decocted in water, and used for fumigation followed by washing while hot...
