The acupoints of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian: Shaose (SI1) is first located at the tip of the little finger. Qian Gu (SI2), Hou Xi (SI3), and Wang Gu (SI4) are situated between the wrist and the palm. Yang Gu (SI5) is aligned with Yang Lao (SI6) and Zhi Zheng (SI7). Xiao Hai (SI8) is located on the upper shoulder, followed by Jian Zhen (SI9), Tian Zong (SI10), Bing Feng (SI11), Qu Yuan (SI12), Jian Wai Shu (SI13), and Jian Zhong Shu (SI14). Moving upwards along the neck, Tian Chuang (SI16) is found sequentially, followed by Tian Rong (SI17). This meridian contains nineteen acupoints in total, plus Quan Liao (SI18) leading into Ting Gong (SI19).
Shaose (SI1) is at the lateral end of the little finger; Qian Gu (SI2) is originally at the lateral side of the proximal interphalangeal joint; Hou Xi (SI3) is taken at the transverse crease distal to the proximal interphalangeal joint; Wang Gu (SI4) is on the lateral side of the depression anterior to the styloid process of the ulna. Yang Gu (SI5) is in the depression below the styloid process of the ulna; one cun proximal to the wrist is named Yang Lao (SI6); Zhi Zheng (SI7) is four cun up the lateral aspect; Xiao Hai (SI8) is best located five fen medial to the olecranon. Jian Zhen (SI9) is in the posterior depression at the glenoid cavity. Tian Zong (SI10) is examined in the depression of the scapula (the depression appearing when raising the arm while depressing the scapula). Tian Zong (SI10) is in the depression below the scapular spine. Bing Feng (SI11) is in the small gap above the scapular spine (a gap appears when raising the shoulder). Qu Yuan (SI12) is in the curved depression in the center of the shoulder. Jian Wai Shu (SI13) is one cun superiorly (specifically, the upper border of the scapula, three cun from the midline). Jian Zhong Shu (SI14) is two cun lateral to the Dazhui (GV14) point. Tian Chuang (SI16) is detailed in the depression where the temporal artery beats under the angle of the jaw. Tian Rong (SI17) is behind the curved angle of the jaw below the ear. Quan Liao (SI18) is measured at the depression at the sharp bony end below the zygomatic bone. Ting Gong (SI19) is above the cartilaginous prominence in the ear (the prominence is as large as a red mung bean). These constitute the acupoints of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian.
[Note] Shaose (SI1) is located in the depression one fen away from the corner of the nail on the lateral side of the little finger. Ascending from Shaose (SI1), in the depression anterior to the proximal interphalangeal joint on the lateral side of the little finger, is Qian Gu (SI2). Ascending from Qian Gu (SI2), in the depression on the apex of the transverse crease distal to the proximal interphalangeal joint of the little finger, taking the position with the hand supinated and clenched into a fist, is Hou Xi (SI3). Ascending from Hou Xi (SI3), in the gap/depression below the raised bone at the anterior wrist on the lateral side of the palm, is Wang Gu (SI4). Ascending from Wang Gu (SI4), in the depression below the sharp bone at the wrist on the lateral side of the palm, is Yang Gu (SI5). Ascending from Yang Gu (SI5), above the sharp bone of the hand, in the depression approximately one cun posterior to the wrist, is Yang Lao (SI6). Ascending from Yang Lao (SI6) four cun up the lateral aspect, is Zhi Zheng (SI7). Ascending from Zhi Zheng (SI7), lateral to the large bone of the elbow, in the depression five fen from the end of the elbow, taking the position with the hand flexed towards the head, is Xiao Hai (SI8). Ascending from Xiao Hai (SI8), below the curved bone of the shoulder, between the separation of the two bones beside the large bone, in the posterior depression at the end of the shoulder, is Jian Zhen (SI9). Ascending from Jian Zhen (SI9) to the end of the shoulder, below the scapular bone, in the depression at the upper border of the bone, taking the position with the arm raised, is Tian Zong (SI10). Ascending from Tian Zong (SI10), in the depression below the scapular bone, is Bing Feng (SI11). Ascending from Bing Feng (SI11) to the center of the shoulder, in the curved depression where pressure elicits pain, is Qu Yuan (SI12). Ascending from Qu Yuan (SI12), at the upper border of the scapula, in the depression three cun lateral to the spine, is Jian Wai Shu (SI13). Ascending from Jian Wai Shu (SI13), at the medial border of the scapula, in the depression two cun lateral to the Dazhui (GV14) point of the Governor Vessel, is Jian Zhong Shu (SI14). Ascending from Jian Zhong Shu (SI14), anterior to the large tendon of the neck, in the depression where the pulse is felt under the curved angle of the jaw, is Tian Chuang (SI16). Ascending from Tian Chuang (SI16), behind the curved angle of the jaw below the ear, is Tian Rong (SI17). Ascending from Tian Rong (SI17), at the depression at the sharp bony end below the lower margin of the zygomatic bone, is Quan Liao (SI18). Ascending from Quan Liao (SI18) to the pearl-like structure in the ear, is Ting Gong (SI19).
