The general principles for acupuncture and moxibustion points are largely the same, but the head and face, being the convergence of all Yang meridians, and the chest and diaphragm, being the sites of the "two fires" (Heart Fire and Lung Fire), are not suitable for extensive moxibustion. For the back and abdomen, if there is Yin deficiency with internal heat, moxibustion is also contraindicated. The points on the four limbs are most effective: for points in the upper body and over bony prominences, needling should be shallow and moxibustion minimal; for points in the lower body and over fleshy areas, needling can be deeper, and excessive moxibustion causes no harm. Previous meridian texts did not record the specific measurements for acupuncture and moxibustion from the *Suwen* (Basic Questions); these can be inferred from this principle.
