Tingli Muxiang San (Lepidium and Aquilaria Powder):
Indicated for severe damp-heat affecting both interior and exterior, presenting with edema and abdominal distension, dark and scanty or painful urination, and loose, slippery diarrhea.
Ingredients: Tingli (Periplocae Semen), Fuling (Poria), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Zhuling (Polyporus), each 1 liang (with Pericarpium removed); Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), 0.5 qian; Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), each 0.5 liang; Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), 1 qian; Huashi (Talcum), 3 liang.
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with warm water, taken before meals. This formula promotes the downward movement of water-dampness, reduces swelling, stops diarrhea, and promotes urination. If urination is obstructed yet diarrhea worsens, it indicates that damp-heat has penetrated deeply and cannot be resolved by purgation, leading to profuse diarrhea due to the collapse of righteous qi; such cases are difficult to save. Do not use purgatives, as they will be ineffective and harmful.
Baizhu Muxiang San (Atractylodis Macrocephalae and Aucklandia Powder):
Indicated for wheezing, coughing, swelling and fullness, impending hydrothorax/hydrops where the patient cannot lie flat, loss of appetite, and urinary retention.
Ingredients: Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Zhuling (Polyporus), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Chifuling (Red Poria), each 0.5 liang; Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), each 2 liang (with albedo removed); Binglang (Arecae Semen), Guiguan (Cinnamomi Cortex), each 2 qian; Huashi (Talcum), 3 liang.
Grind the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 5 qian per dose with one cup of water and three slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), decoct until reduced to 0.7 cups, strain, and take warm before meals.
Da Jupi Tang (Large Citrus Decoction):
Indicated for severe internal damp-heat, chest and abdominal fullness/distension, edema, dysuria, and loose, slippery diarrhea.
Ingredients: Jupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), 1.5 qian; Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), 1 qian; Huashi (Talcum), 6 qian; Binglang (Arecae Semen), 3 qian; Fuling (Poria), 1 liang (with cortex removed); Zhuling (Polyporus) (with cortex removed); Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Guiguan (Cinnamomi Cortex), each 5 qian; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), 3 qian.
Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose with one cup of water and five slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), decoct until reduced to 0.7 cups, strain, and take warm.
Guiling Baizhu Wan (Cinnamon, Poria, and Atractylodes Pill):
Resolves phlegm-rebellion, stops coughing, disperses epigastric fullness and obstruction, opens hard accumulations causing pain and stifling sensation, promotes digestion, harmonizes zang-fu organs. Regardless of cold-dampness or damp-heat, vomiting or diarrhea can be treated by promoting dispersion, allowing body fluids to circulate and moisten dryness, restoring the smooth flow of qi and fluids for recovery. It also resolves alcohol toxicity, treats lung abscess with chronic cough, edema and abdominal distension, and intractable diarrhea. Administer until diarrhea stops, then treat according to specific syndromes.
Ingredients: Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Ganshengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), each 1 fen; Fuling (Poria) (with cortex removed); Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), each 1 liang; Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Hongpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium - red peel) (with albedo removed), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), each 0.5 liang.
Grind the above ingredients into a powder, mix with wheat paste to form pills the size of small beans. Take 20-30 pills per dose with Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) decoction, three times daily. For diseases above the diaphragm, take after meals; below the diaphragm, take before meals; in the middle, take at any time. Alternatively, add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) 0.5 liang and Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) 2 liang, make water pills; this yields excellent results.
Liuyi San (Six-to-One Powder):
Indicated for fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dysentery with bloody and white discharge, strangury with painful urination, and promotes urination. It dissipates cold-heat accumulation in the stomach, promotes the circulation of stagnant qi, unblocks the nine orifices and six fu-organs, generates body fluids, removes retained stagnations, eliminates fluid retention, quenches thirst, expands the chest, relieves irritability and restlessness.
