Whenever any carbuncle, ulcer, swelling, or toxic lesion first appears, immediately use two to three taels of *Polygala* root flesh (Yuanzhi Rou), removing the heart/core, boiling it thoroughly in clear wine until soft, mashing it into a paste, and applying it to the affected area. Secure it with oiled paper covered by cloth. After one night, the toxicity will instantly dissipate; this has been tested repeatedly with consistent results, proving its efficacy as if by divine power.

Puji Wanquan Ointment (see section on Bi Syndrome).

When treating early-stage swelling and toxic lesions, they can be eliminated immediately. By taking this medicine internally and applying Yuanzhi Paste externally, all kinds of malignant toxins and sores will inevitably dissipate. However, it is advisable to take it as early as possible. If the sore has already formed pus, it cannot be dissipated from within and must rely on external rupture and drainage.

Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua) (two taels), Licorice Root (Gancao) (two qian). Decoct in water and take with clear wine. If the toxicity is located in the lower jiao, add Achyranthes Root (Niuxi) (two qian).

On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month each year, store one to two jin of Qizhou Mugwort (Qiai); the longer it is stored, the better. When needed, take the leaves to form moxa cones, or add Musk (Shexiang), Costus Root (Muxiang), and Realgar (Xionghuang) powder, roll them into balls, place them on garlic slices for moxibustion. This is called Medicinal Moxa Balls (Yaomai Wan).

To treat Ding toxin (hard chancre-like sores), Naoju (carbuncle on the head/back of neck), Rupiong (mastitis), Fuguju (osteomyelitis), and Tunpiong (buttock abscess), covering all conditions whether painless, severely painful, or numb: Toad (Chanchu) (dissolved in wine, one qian), Calomelas (Qingfen) (five fen), Frankincense (Ruxiang), Myrrh (Moyao), Realgar (Xionghuang), Croton Seed (Badou) (each two qian), Musk (Shexiang) (three fen), Cinnabar (Zhusha) (one qian), Borneol (Zhaonao) (one qian). Grind all ingredients into fine powder. On the noon hour of the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, in a clean room, mix the medicinal powder with Toad wine to form pills the size of mung beans. Use one pill at a time, mix with saliva, apply to the Ding sore, and cover with an ointment plaster.

This is a miraculous medicine for treating Ding sores.

White Chrysanthemum Flower (Baijuhua) (four taels), Licorice Root (Gancao) (four taels). Decoct in water and take the decoction in one dose. The dregs should be decocted again immediately. For severe cases, no more than two doses are needed for resolution; it is extremely stable and effective. No other formula for resolving Ding toxins compares to this one.

Whenever toxicity arises accompanied by wind-cold, it is appropriate to first use this formula to disperse the pathogen. If the toxicity does not subside, subsequently administer medicines such as Honeysuckle Flower and Licorice Root.

Ligusticum Rhizome (Chuanxiong), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi), Perilla Leaf (Zisuye), Red Peony Root (Chishao), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi), Licorice Root (Gancao) (each one qian), Schizonepeta (Jingjie), Cyperus Rhizome (Xiangfu), Gentian Macrophylla (Qinjiao) (each one qian five fen). Scallion white with roots intact, two cun long. Decoct in water and take orally. If complicated by food stagnation, add Hawthorn Fruit (Shanzha), Malt (Maiya), and Grape seeds (Putaizi). If internal heat is extremely intense, add Forsythia Fruit (Lianqiao) and Burdock Fruit (Bangzi).
