In cases of constipation, Danggui Wan (Angelica Pill) is indicated. If both Xing and Qi are diseased, and the child has a congenital constitution that is inherently weak, Shiqi San (Ten Miracles Powder) should be taken prophylactically, with increased dosage of Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) and a small amount of Muxiang (Aucklandia Root), decocted and administered.

Heat in lower legs and calves, red cheeks, constipation, difficult urination, unquenchable thirst, rapid breathing, surging and rapid pulse.
The above seven signs indicate that hot medicines should not be used.
If pustules erupt densely like silkworm eggs or chaff, clearing and releasing the exterior is required; Lianqiao Shengma Tang (Forsythia Cimicifuga Decoction) is indicated. If convulsions occur before eruption, it indicates concurrent external wind-cold invasion; Jiedu Wan (Detoxifying Pill) and Xijiao Dihuang Tang (Rhino Horn Rehmannia Decoction) should be taken with tea water. If pustules are blue, dry, black, and sunken, with slight fever and obstructed urination/defecation, heat is accumulated internally; Dahuang Tang (Rhubarb Decoction) to send down Xuanfeng San (Dispersing Wind Powder) is indicated. Differentiating Three Yin Syndromes and Treatments (8)
(Pustules erupting in autumn and winter are unfavorable, corresponding to the time of pure Yin.)
Cold lower legs and calves, abdominal distension with deficiency, green stools, pale face, vomiting milk/food, blueish eyeballs, deep and faint pulse.
The above seven signs indicate that cold medicines should not be used.
When pustules are abundant with cold limbs or spontaneous diarrhea, the pathogen is in the Taiyin Spleen channel; urgent warming is needed using Yigong San (Yi Gong Powder), Fuzi Lizhong Tang (Aconite Regulate the Middle Decoction), or Tiaozhong Wan (Regulate Middle Pill). If pustules are flat, gray-white, and lusterless, this indicates deficiency of righteous Qi; Shibu Tuoli San (Ten Tonifying Interior Powder) with doubled Huangqi (Astragalus Root) and added Shufuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateralis Radix) is indicated. If limbs are cold with convulsions, the pathogen is in Jueyin; warming is needed using Yigong San with Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) and Qingpi (Citrus Unripe Peel), or Hezhong San (Harmonize Middle Powder) removing Gan Ge (Pueraria Root) and Huoxiang (Pogostemon Herb), adding Fuzi (Aconite Lateralis Radix) and Rouguixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart).

Differentiating Deficiency of Xing (Form) and Qi (9)
The Lung governs Qi. Qi deficiency leads to three symptoms: spontaneous sweating, voicelessness, sunken and non-plump pustule tops.
All are treated with Shiqi San (Ten Miracles Powder) (Double Huangqi for spontaneous sweating; double Jiegeng for voicelessness).
The Heart governs Blood. Blood deficiency leads to three symptoms: gray-white color, non-red base, lack of luster.
All are treated with Xiong Gui Tang (Cyperi and Angelica Decoction) plus Shaoyao (Peony Root), Zicao (Arnebiae Radix et Rhizoma), and Honghua (Carthami Flos), which is highly effective.

Differentiating Exterior-Interior and Excess-Deficiency (10)
Exterior and Interior both Excess: Pustules are hard to erupt but easy to crust.
Exterior and Interior both Deficiency: Pustules are easy to erupt but hard to crust.
Pain indicates Excess. (Comfort inside/pain outside = Exterior Excess/Interior Deficiency. Pain inside/comfort outside = Interior Excess/Exterior Deficiency.)
Cold indicates Pain. (Body pain during eruption not caused by external cold implies dense muscle/cou-li; treat separately. If red spots appear suppressed by cold but flesh is hot, Muxiang Renshen Suxie Yin (Aucklandia Ginseng Perilla Drink) is indicated. Mild cases: Xiaodu Yin (Detoxify Drink) or Gegen Shengma Jia Shaoyao Tang (Pueraria Cimicifuga Plus Peony Decoction). Dense cou-li: Huoxue San (Invigorate Blood Powder) or Yunqi San (Harmonize Qi Powder).)
Itch indicates Deficiency. (Blood/Qi deficiency causes itch. Treat with Shibu Tuoli San (Ten Tonifying Interior Powder) or Muxiang San (Aucklandia Powder) plus Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos) and Guanchi (Cassia Twig). Stomach governs muscle; Sizijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) plus Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome), Muxiang (Aucklandia Root), Zicao (Arnebiae Radix et Rhizoma) is especially suitable. If itching is due to dietary indiscretion/toxic food, Erwu Tang (Two Substances Decoction), Baihua Gao (Hundred Flowers Ointment), or Sizijunzi Tang plus detoxifying herbs is indicated.)

Formulas for Peaceful Treatment (11, aiming for balance, infallible)
Shibi Hu Shi said: Children cannot tolerate extreme heat or cold. Too much hot medicine causes vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal distension; severely, it causes sinking and inversion. Warm and cool should be balanced. Renzhang Yang Shi said: Heat pathogens should not be removed abruptly; mild resolution is needed because pustules require heat to rise and develop. Shi Shi said: Like planting beans, warmth facilitates growth.
When weather is abnormal and neighbors have outbreaks, take secret formulas: Sandou Tang (Three Beans Decoction), You Yinzi (Oil Drink), Fenglong Gao (Phoenix Dragon Ointment).
At the initial stage of suspected eruption, resolve and benefit, similar to Shanghan, combining exterior release. Hu Shi said: Without slight sweating, the exterior is not resolved. Release exterior when red spots are not yet visible. Use Wang Shi Xingxing San (Wang's Xingxing Powder), Qian Shi Xingxing San (Qian's Xingxing Powder), Zhang Shi Fangfeng Tang (Zhang's Saposhnikovia Decoction), Shengma Gegen Tang (Cimicifuga Pueraria Decoction), Zhang Shi Siwu Jieji Tang (Zhang's Four Substances Muscle-Releasing Decoction), or Renshen Suxie Yin (Ginseng Perilla Drink).

Make a small hole in the egg, insert earthworm, seal with paper, steam in rice cooker until cooked. Remove earthworm, feed egg to child. Eat one on every Start of Spring lifelong to prevent eruption. If outbreak is near, eating one or two is also good.
