[World Medical Experience] During the spring and summer months, among trees or in ditches by walls, there are certain multicolored hairy caterpillars that are extremely toxic. Anyone touched by them will have their venomous hairs injected into the skin of their hands and feet, penetrating from the epidermis to the muscle, and from the muscle to the bone. Initially, the skin and flesh itch slightly, gradually progressing to pain. After several days, itching occurs on the surface while pain is felt internally. Scratching with hands, whether for itching or pain, inevitably leads to rotting of flesh and bone, posing a threat to life. This is named "Zhong She Gong Du" (Poisoning by Shooting Insect Venom), and various medicines are ineffective. Take about one bowl of good fermented soybeans (Douchi), half a cup of clear oil, mix and pound the beans until mushy, then apply thickly to the painful and itchy area. After about one hour, the qi of the beans penetrates the bone, drawing out the caterpillar hairs, which become visible in large numbers. Remove the beans and bury them in the soil. Decoct Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi) soup to wash the painful area. If the flesh has already rotted, use Sepiae Endoconcha (Haipiaoxiao, cuttlefish bone) ground into powder for external application, and it will heal. Another method: take the white juice from the rhizome of Taraxaci Herba (Pugongying, dandelion) and apply it externally; recovery is immediate. Another prescription: Use earth from the bottom of a cooking pot ground into powder, knead into a ball with sour vinegar, and rub it over the itchy and painful area. The hairs will all appear on the earth, and the pain and itching stop immediately, with unparalleled efficacy. (Earth from the bottom of the cooking pot is also known as Longgu Fustis, Fulongs Gan.)
