能乳者，（胃中有热故也。）喜食土者，（胃气不足。）面色黑者，（为寒为痹。）大便青（属寒）褐色，
血黑色，（热蓄血中。）间黄色，（肠胃有热，）治法当滋营润燥，内除寒热，外致津液。
山栀（三分） 黄柏 甘草（炙各二分） 大芜荑（五分） 黄连 麻黄 羌活 柴胡（各三分） 防风（一分）
白术（五分） 茯苓（三分） 当归（四分）
上件锉如麻豆大。作一服，水一盏半，煎至一盏，去渣，稍热服，食前。
上三方治疳黄食土。前一方寒多者宜服，后二方热多者宜之。
〔丹〕疳黄食积。
白术 黄连 苦参 山楂（各等分）
上用糊丸如麻子大。食后白术汤下十五丸。
〔《山》〕小儿疳黄。鸡蛋剜一小窍，入巴豆净一粒，纸糊孔煨熟，去巴豆食之，隔一日再吃一二个。
〔丹〕小儿吃泥。石膏、黄芩、陈皮、茯苓、甘草，白术，水煎服。
(The dry-heat pathogen accumulates in the Stomach Meridian, causing) hair to become yellow and fall out. (This is because both the Bladder and Kidney are affected by damp-earth pathogenic factors, constituting a damp-heat syndrome.) Sores occurring under the nose. (This is due to the counterflow of earth qi, with Ying-nutrient qi stagnating and transforming into fire.)
Those who can nurse normally. (This is because there is heat in the Stomach.) Those who crave eating dirt. (This is because Stomach qi is insufficient.) Those with a dark complexion. (This belongs to cold syndromes or Bi-syndrome [obstruction].) Stool that is green. (Belongs to cold.) Brown or bloody-black stool. (Heat accumulating in the blood.) Occasionally yellow stool. (Heat in the intestines and stomach.) The treatment principle should be to nourish Ying-nutrient and moisten dryness, internally eliminate cold and heat, and externally promote the generation of body fluids.
Gardenia jasminoidis Fructus (Zhizi, 栀子) (3 fen) Phellodendron Cortex (Huangbai, 黄柏) Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草), roasted (2 fen each) Large Melia Toosendan Fruit (Dawuyi, 大芜荑) (5 fen) Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, 黄连) Ephedra Stem (Mahuang, 麻黄) Notopterygium Rhizome and Root (Qianghuo, 羌活) Bupleurum Root (Chaihu, 柴胡) (3 fen each) Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng, 防风) (1 fen)
Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu, 白术) (5 fen) Poria (Fuling, 茯苓) (3 fen) Angelica Sinensis Radix (Danggui, 当归) (4 fen)
Crush the above ingredients to the size of hemp seeds. Prepare as one dose, add one and a half cups of water, decoct until one cup remains, remove the dregs, and take slightly warm before meals.
The above three formulas treat gan-yellow (jaundice associated with malnutrition) and geophagia (craving for dirt). The first formula is suitable for cases with more cold, while the latter two are suitable for cases with more heat.
[Dan] Gan-yellow with food retention.
Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu, 白术) Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, 黄连) Sophora Flavescens Root (Kushen, 苦参) Hawthorn Fruit (Shanzha, 山楂) (equal parts)
Make pills using paste, sized like hemp seeds. Take fifteen pills after meals with Baizhu decoction.
[Shan] Pediatric gan-yellow with jaundice. Make a small hole in an egg, insert one clean kernel of Croton Seed (Badou, 巴豆), seal the hole with paper, roast until cooked, remove the Croton Seed, and eat the egg. Repeat every other day, consuming one or two eggs each time.
[Dan] Pediatric geophagia. Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, 石膏) Scutellaria Root (Huangqin, 黄芩) Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 陈皮) Poria (Fuling, 茯苓) Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草) Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu, 白术), decoct in water and take orally.
