[General Principle] To secure the fetus, strengthening the Spleen is the fundamental source, as the Earth element nurtures all things like soil. The Kidney governs the suspension of the uterus (the organ holding the fetus) and should also be consolidated; the Liver governs storing blood to nourish the uterus, which requires particular attention.
Vomiting during pregnancy that occurs repeatedly with incessant nausea is caused by stagnation of Qi in the Spleen and Stomach. Xiangsha Liujun Tang (Aucklandia and Amomum Six Gentlemen Decoction) is appropriate.
Mu Xiang (1 qian) Sha Ren (2 qian) Bai Zhu (3 qian) Yun Fu Ling (3 qian) Dang Gui (3 qian) Chen Pi (3 qian) Ban Xia (2 qian)
Gan Cao (1 qian) Sheng Jiang (3 slices) Da Zao (2 pieces)
The song states: For vomiting during pregnancy, use Xiang Fu; add Bai Zhu, Gan Cao, Ren Shen, and Fu Ling similarly.
Chen Pi and Ban Xia harmonize the Spleen and Stomach, ensuring the medication is not mistaken.
Irritability during pregnancy, accompanied by thirst and dizziness, is caused by deficient fire in the Heart and Stomach. Antai Qinghuo Tang (Fetus-Securing Fire-Clearing Decoction) is appropriate.
Dang Gui (3 qian) Bai Shao (2 qian) Bai Zhu (3 qian) Huang Qin (1.5 qian) Ze Xie (3 qian) Zhi Mu (3 qian) Mai Dong (1.5 qian) Yun Fu Ling (3 qian) Sha Shen (1.5 qian) Zhu Ye (1.5 qian)

Fu Ling and Zhu Ye combined with Mai Dong and Ze Xie clear heat and secure the fetus, preventing fire from causing disaster.
(Bai's unsolicited note: If menstruation has stopped for three months and one wishes to confirm pregnancy, use 1 qian of Chuan Xiong, decocted in Ai Ye (Mugwort Leaf) soup taken on an empty stomach. If there is movement in the abdomen, it is a fetus; if there is movement below the navel, it is a Jia mass (abdominal lump); if there is no movement, it is Blood stasis.)
Severe lower back pain during pregnancy, fearing miscarriage, is caused by laxity of the Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel). Jiawei Gutai Wan (Modified Fetus-Securing Pill) is appropriate.
Du Zhong (3 qian) Shu Di (3 qian) Gu Zhi (3 qian) Huai Shan Yao (3 qian) Dang Gui (3 qian) Xu Duan (3 qian) Bai Zhu (3 qian) Ren Shen (1 qian)
The song states: For lower back pain in pregnancy fearing fetal injury, select Huai Shan Yao, Dang Gui, Shu Di, and Gu Zhi.
Du Zhong and Ren Shen used together with Xu Duan, plus Bai Zhu to cultivate the Earth (Spleen).
Abdominal pain during pregnancy, severe enough to cause miscarriage, is caused by disharmony of the Tai Qi (fetal Qi). Tiaoqi Antai Yin (Qi-Regulating Fetus-Securing Decoction) is appropriate.
Dang Gui (3 qian) Mu Xiang (1 qian) Yun Fu Ling (3 qian) Bai Shao (1.5 qian) Xiang Fu (1.5 qian) Zi Su (1.5 qian) Zhu Ma Gen (2 qian)

Zi Su Geng, Mu Xiang, and Xiang Fu, added with Ma Gen, make the pregnancy stable and hard to shake.
(Bai's unsolicited note: For fetal movement threatening expulsion, urgently decoct Zhu Ma Gen (3 qian) and Long Yan Rou (0.5 liang) thickly and administer. I have treated many cases with this method successfully.)
Constipation during pregnancy, along with dry mouth and aversion to heat, is caused by Blood deficiency leading to fetal dryness. Maren Yangxue Tang (Hemp Seed Nourishing Blood Decoction) is appropriate.
Huo Ma Ren (3 qian) Xing Ren (3 qian) Dang Gui (3 qian) Huang Qin (1.5 qian) Bai Shao (2 qian) Mai Dong (2 qian) Gan Cao (8 qian)
The song states: Constipation in pregnancy due to Blood deficit; Xing Ren, Bai Shao, and Huo Ma Ren primarily moisten the Spleen.
Adding Dang Gui, Huang Qin, Mai Dong, and Gan Cao shows miraculous efficacy in nourishing Yin and Blood.
Dark yellow urine during pregnancy, along with turbid and difficult urination, is caused by Heat in the Bao Gong (uterus/bladder) and fluid stagnation. Longdan Qingre Tang (Gentian Heat-Clearing Decoction) is appropriate.

Dang Gui, Bai Shao, Sheng Di, Mu Tong, and Ze Xie, along with Gan Cao Shao and Dan Zhu Ye, assist together.
Pressure from the Bao Gong downward, preventing urination, is caused by the inability to elevate the Bao Xi (membranes connecting the uterus). Bawei Shenqi Wan (Eight-Ingredient Kidney Qi Pill) is appropriate.
Shu Di (3 qian) Shan Yu (3 qian) Shan Yao (3 qian) Mai Dong (1.5 qian) Yun Fu Ling (3 qian) Ze Xie (3 qian) An Gui (0.2 fen) Dan Pi (1.5 qian) Fu Pian (0.5 fen) Yu Zhu (1.5 qian)
The song states: For Zhuang Bao (bladder compression) with difficulty urinating, use Ze Xie, Sheng Di, Dan Pi, Shan Yu, Yun Fu Ling, and Shan Yao together.
Yu Zhu and Mai Dong combined with Gui and Fu, do not doubt that toxic heat is attacking the fetus.
(Bai's unsolicited note: Add Sheng Ma (0.8 fen) to the formula.)
Pressure from the Bao Gong upward, causing mental irritability and restlessness, is caused by Blood deficiency and forcing Fire. Yangwei Qingjiang Tang (Stomach-Nourishing Clearing-Descending Decoction) is appropriate.
Ren Shen (1 qian) Bai Zhu (3 qian) Huai Shan Yao (3 qian) Bai Shao (1.5 qian) Dang Gui (2 qian) Yun Fu Ling (3 qian) Gan Cao (0.8 fen) Da Zao (2 pieces) E Jiao (1.5 qian) Sheng Di (3 qian) Zao Ren (3 qian) Mai Dong (1.5 qian)

Bai Shao, Sheng Di, Yun Fu Ling, Mai Dong, Shan Yao, and Gan Cao, along with Zao Ren and Da Zao, help nourish Yin.
