泻证门
Morning intake with evening vomiting indicates Cold Vomiting (Han Tu). The milk and food are undigested and lack a sour or foul odor; the limbs are cold, and the face and lips are pale. This can be treated with decoctions of Jiangju San (Ginger and Tangerine Peel Powder) or Dingyu Lizhong Tang (Clove and Evodia Decoction for Regulating the Middle).
[Note]
Cold Vomiting is caused by infants consuming excessive amounts of raw and cold foods, or by nursing mothers exposing themselves to wind and cooling off, allowing cold pathogenic factors to enter the breast milk. When the infant drinks this milk, it results in Cold Vomiting. The symptoms include vomiting ingested food in the evening after morning consumption, undigested milk and food, vomitus that is neither sour nor foul-smelling, cold extremities, and pale complexion and lips. Treatment should focus on warming the middle jiao and stopping vomiting. For mild stomach cold, Jiangju San is indicated; for severe cold, Dingyu Lizhong Tang is indicated.
(Jiangju San) Prepared Ginger (Paojiang) 1 qian, Chenpi (Aged Tangerine Peel) 1 liang, Zhi Gancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root) 1 qian. Grind the above into fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with warm Jujube water.
(Lizhong Tang) See the formula under "Failure to Suckle," adding Dingxiang (Clove) and Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit).

Vomiting immediately after eating is due to Stomach Heat. Symptoms include thirst with a desire for cold drinks, vomiting of sour fluid, body heat, red lips, and dark urine. Jiawei Wendan Tang (Modified Phlegm-Resolving Decoction) can cure this.
[Note]
Heat Vomiting may result from infants overeating fried or roasted foods, or from nursing mothers consuming rich and heavy foods, leading to heat accumulation in the stomach. Consequently, food is vomited immediately upon ingestion. Symptoms include thirst with a desire for cold drinks, vomiting of sour fluid, fever, red lips, and dark red urine. Treatment should prioritize clearing heat, using Jiawei Wendan Tang as the primary formula.
(Jiawei Wendan Tang) Chenpi (Aged Tangerine Peel), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber, processed with ginger juice), Fuling (Poria), Maidong (Ophiopogon Root, heart removed), Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange, bran-fried), Sheng Gancao (Raw Licorice Root), Zhuru (Bamboo Shavings), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, stir-fried with ginger juice). Decoct with Dengxincao (Juncus Effusus) and take orally.
(Verse Formula)
For Heat Vomiting, use Wendan Tang,
Chenpi, Banxia, and Fuling are good.
Maidong, Zhishi, and Raw Gancao,
With Zhuru and Huanglian, decocted well.

Infantile Diarrhea must be clearly differentiated into categories: Milk Injury, Food Stagnation, Cold Diarrhea, Heat Diarrhea, and Shock Diarrhea. For conditions involving organ coldness, Spleen deficiency, Sundry Diarrhea (Sun Xie, characterized by undigested food), and Water Diarrhea (Shui Xie, characterized by watery stools), treatments such as resolving stagnation/drainage or warming/tonifying should be applied precisely.
[Note]
Diarrhea is mostly caused by the Spleen being immersed in dampness, where Earth fails to control Water. However, the origins of disease vary: it may be due to stagnant milk and food that fail to digest, exposure to cold or summerheat pathogens, external shock pathogens, cold affecting the zang-organs, or Spleen deficiency causing diarrhea. There are also cases of Sundry Diarrhea and Water Diarrhea. Since the causes differ, the methods of regulation and treatment also differ. Physicians must differentiate carefully, applying either draining/resolving methods or warming/tonifying methods according to the specific syndrome, thus avoiding errors.
