Since Blood deficiency leads to Yin deficiency, and Yin deficiency generates Heat, cooling herbs are often added to Blood-tonifying formulas. These are all cases of Blood insufficiency after ulceration, primarily using Siwu Tang as the base, modified according to syndrome differentiation.
[Mnemonic Verse] Add Cinnamon, Frankincense, Myrrh, and Grain to Four Substances for Tuoli Ding Tong; Its efficacy is miraculous. Another formula: Renshen Huangqi Tang (Ginseng and Astragalus Decoction)

Ginseng, Astragalus, Angelica, Atractylodes, Cimicifuga, Bupleurum, and Licorice; Ophiopogon, Schisandra, Citrus guide with Dates and Ginger. For Ginseng-Astragalus treating Cold-Heat-Dampness, add Fermented Dough, Atractylodes, and Phellodendron, removing Bupleurum.
