[Song of Jade Opacity Floating Fullness]
Text: Jade opacity floating fullness may occasionally cause pain; wind-heat pathogenic factors rush to the brain and affect the pupil. Treatment should utilize Xidao San (Knife-Washing Powder) combined with Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Wind-Protective Universal Rescue Powder), adding Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Jili (Tribuli Fructus), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Mu Zei (Equiseti Herba), Cao Jueming (Cassiae Semen), Chan Tui (Cicadae Periostracum), Man Jing Zi (Viticis Fructus), and Qing Xiang Zi (Celosiae Semen), each one qian (approx. 3-5 grams).
Formula: Xidao San Formula
It is Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Wind-Protective Universal Rescue Powder) plus Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Jili (Tribuli Fructus), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Mu Zei (Equiseti Herba), Cao Jueming (Cassiae Semen), Chan Tui (Cicadae Periostracum), Man Jing Zi (Viticis Fructus), and Qing Xiang Zi (Celosiae Semen), each one qian.
Annotations:
[1] The syndrome of jade opacity floating fullness, at its onset, may present with occasional pain. An opacity resembling jade color appears on the black cornea (Cornea), covering the pupil. This is entirely due to extreme heat toxicity in the Liver Meridian (Liver Channel), where wind-heat pathogenic factors rush upward to the head.
[2] It is appropriate to use Xidao San (Knife-Washing Powder) to dispel wind-heat and eliminate the opacity membrane.

[Song of White Eye Pain]
Text: White eye pain disease presents without redness or swelling, but with red filaments, blood vessels, a gritty sensation, and pain. This condition is caused by damp-heat in the Lung and Spleen combined with latent fire. One must distinguish which of the Three Yang Meridians the red vessels belong to. Treatment should utilize Sangbaipi Tang (Mulberry Bark Decoction), comprising Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex), Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix), Ju Hua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Xuan Fu Hua (Inulae Flos), Fu Ling (Poria), Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex), and Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix).
Formula: Sangbaipi Tang Formula
Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma) 8 fen, Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix) 8 fen, Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) 1 qian, Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix) 7 fen, Ju Hua (Chrysanthemi Flos) 5 fen, Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 2.5 fen, Xuan Fu Hua (Inulae Flos) 1 qian, Fu Ling (Poria) 7 fen, Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex) 7 fen, Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed) 1 qian.
Grind the above herbs into a coarse powder. Add two cups of water and decoct until one cup remains. Strain and take warm.
Annotations:
[1] White eye pain is commonly known as "Harmful White Eye."
[2] Its symptoms include no redness and no swelling, but rather a gritty sensation and pain, often accompanied by red filaments and blood vessels.
[3] This is caused by damage to the collaterals of the Spleen and Lung, with internal accumulation of damp-heat, combined with latent fire in the Qi level rushing upward.
[4] One must observe the direction of the red filaments and blood vessels to distinguish the Three Yang Meridians: Those running from top to bottom belong to the Taiyang Meridian (Taiyang Channel), using Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) as the guiding herb; those running from bottom to top belong to the Yangming Meridian (Yangming Channel), using Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) as the guiding herb; those running from outside to inside belong to the Shaoyang Meridian (Shaoyang Channel), using Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) as the guiding herb.
[5] It is appropriate to treat primarily with Sangbaipi Tang (Mulberry Bark Decoction).
