[Prescription Verse] Phlegm nodules on the eyelids are caused by dampness stagnation; the nodules resemble dates or beans in shape. Located between the skin and flesh, they move upon pushing, with normal skin color, hardness, and no pain.
[Note] This condition forms in the upper and lower eyelids, between the skin and muscle. Large ones resemble dates, small ones resemble beans; they move when pushed, with normal skin color, hard swelling, and no pain. It is formed by damp-phlegm and qi stagnation. It is suitable to take Huajian Erchen Wan (Hardness-Dissolving Two-Chen Pill). Externally, apply raw Arisaema Cum Bile (Sheng Nánxīng) dipped in vinegar, ground into a thick paste, frequently applied to the eyelids. For cases of short duration, it will disappear immediately. For long-standing cases, although it may not disappear, frequent application can thin the skin. Gently scratch the surface, then squeeze out white powder-like fluid with fingernails to resolve it, followed by applying Beiye Gao (Banyan Leaf Plaster) to close the wound. Cases ulcerating from inside the eyelid are difficult to heal.
Prescription: Huajian Erchen Wan (Hardness-Dissolving Two-Chen Pill)
Ingredients: Chenpi (Aged Tangerine Peel), Banxia (Prepared Pinellia Rhizome, 1 liang each), Baijiangcan (Cultured Silkworm, stir-fried, 2 liang), Baifuling (Poria, 1.5 liang), Gancao (Raw Licorice Root, 3 qian), Chuanlianhuan (Coptis Rhizome, 3 qian).
Grind all into fine powder, mix with Lotus Leaf Decoction to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 2 qian per dose, washed down with warm boiled water.
[Prescription Verse] Huajian Erchen Wan eliminates phlegm; for nodules throughout the body, taking it brings further recovery. It contains Chenpi, Banxia, Fuling, Gancao, Jiangcan, He Ye, and Chuan Lianhuang.
Another Prescription: Beiye Gao (See Ulcer Section)
[Prescription Verse] Jiaochuang (Pepper Granuloma) and Suchuang (Millet Granuloma) arise within the eyelids; spleen-stomach blood heat is their root. Suchuang is yellow and soft due to excess dampness, making it easy to dissipate; Jiaochuang is red and hard due to excess heat, making it difficult to eliminate.
[Note] These two conditions occur inside the eyelids. Although both are caused by spleen-stomach blood heat, Suchuang leans towards excess dampness, hence yellow color and soft shape, making it easy to cure; Jiaochuang leans towards excess heat, hence red color and hard shape, making the sores difficult to eliminate. Both are suitable for Qingpi Liangxue Tang (Spleen-Clearing Blood-Cooling Decoction), externally washed with Qingliang Yuan (Cooling Round Powder). If there are piled-up red filaments inside the eyelid, this indicates blood heat with stasis. The method is to scrape the affected area with a rush stem until blood flows out, which leads to healing.
Prescription: Qingpi Liangxue Tang (Spleen-Clearing Blood-Cooling Decoction)
Ingredients: Jingjie (Schizonepeta Spike), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Chishao (Red Peony Root), Heishen (Black Ginseng/Codonopsis), Chenpi (Aged Tangerine Peel), Chantui (Cicada Slough), Cangzhu (Atractylodes Rhizome, stir-fried), Baixianpi (Dictamnus Bark, 1 qian each), Lianqiao (Forsythia Fruit, heart removed), Sheng Dahuang (Raw Rhubarb Root, wine-washed, 1.5 qian each), Houpo (Magnolia Bark, ginger-stir-fried), Gancao (Raw Licorice Root, 0.5 qian each).
Add 30 leaves of Zhuye (Bamboo Leaves), decoct in water, and take after meals.
[Prescription Verse] Qingpi Liangxue treats Jiaochuang and Suchuang; it contains Houpo, Chenpi, Lianqiao, Chishao, Cangzhu, Chantui, Heishen, Jingjie, Fangfeng, Gancao, Baixianpi, and Sheng Dahuang.
Another Prescription: Qingliang Yuan (See Mycotoxin/Toxic Section)
