[Prescription Verse] If an iron needle is accidentally swallowed into the throat, urgently drink the blood of several toads. If the needle is not immediately vomited out, use *Tiaoluo San* (Broomstick Powder), or consume malt sugar to facilitate its passage without retention.
[Note] When an iron needle is accidentally lodged in the throat, conventional medicines are ineffective. It is advisable to use several toads (*Bufo bufo gargarizans*), remove their heads, hang them upside down to collect the flowing blood, catch approximately one cupful in a bowl, and pour it into the throat. After a while, the needle will be vomited out along with the blood. Alternatively, use old broomsticks (calcined over fire to retain their nature), grind them into powder, take three qian per dose, mixed with yellow wine; this can also dissolve the needle. Or, consume one jin of malt sugar (*Yitang*), after which the needle will naturally pass out.
[Prescription Verse] Accidentally swallowing a copper coin may cause no pain initially, but if left in the abdomen for long, it will inevitably cause disease. Water chestnut (*Jieqi*) can soften hardness; consuming more poses no harm and can dissolve copper coins.
[Note] For accidentally swallowed copper coins, eating many water chestnuts (*Eleocharis dulcis*) can soften the hard object. If iron bones or similar objects are swallowed and cannot be moved by the intestines, causing a sensation of heaviness/dropping, eating plenty of green vegetables and lard will naturally guide them into the large intestine to be excreted with feces, which is very effective.
[Prescription Verse] Fish bones lodging in the throat are most worrying, causing stabbing pain and obstructing swallowing. Fish bones require duck saliva infusion; animal bones require dog saliva infusion for cure.
[Note] This condition arises from hurried swallowing, where a bone lodges in the throat, hindering diet and causing stabbing pain upon swallowing. Immediate treatment is necessary. There is a distinction between fish bones and animal bones. For fish bones, use live ducks raised in rivers, hang them upside down to collect saliva, catch it in a porcelain bowl, have the patient lie supine, and frequently administer the saliva; the bone will dissolve completely. For animal bones, use a dog, hang it upside down to collect saliva as before, and frequently administer; the bone will dissolve completely. Both methods are effective. If untreated, leading to throat swelling, pain, and suppuration, use *Bingpeng San* (Ice and Borax Powder) insufflated into the lesion; do not recklessly administer cooling medicines. If the bone is large, making food intake difficult and damaging stomach qi due to starvation, these cases are difficult to save.
Formula: *Bingpeng San* (See Mouth Section: Thrush)
[Prescription Verse] For flogging wounds, observe the morphology clearly: whether broken or unbroken. Apply *Qingliang Niantong Gao* (Cooling Pain-Relieving Ointment) to broken wounds to reduce swelling and relieve pain. For unbroken wounds with blood stasis, scarification (bloodletting) is required; urgently administer *Dacheng Tang* (Great Success Decoction). Apply *Yuhong Gao* (Jade Red Ointment) to areas with stasis, putrefaction, and pain to promote natural regeneration of new flesh.
[Note] These wounds are divided into broken and unbroken types. For broken wounds, apply *Qingliang Niantong Gao* after flogging; pain and swelling subside immediately. For unbroken wounds with internal attacking blood stasis, urgently perform scarification to remove stasis, and internally administer *Dacheng Tang*; self-healing occurs once bowel movements are unobstructed. For injured areas with stasis, putrefaction, and pain, apply *Shengji Yuhong Gao* (Flesh-Regenerating Jade Red Ointment); necrotic tissue naturally sloughs off and new tissue regenerates, with rapid effects.
Formula: *Qingliang Niantong Gao*
Composition: Take one liang of *Ruyi Jinhuang San* (Ruyi Golden Yellow Powder), mix evenly with three qian of borneol powder (*Zhangnao*). Separately, take about three to four jin of raw white lime blocks, soak in water until the lime stands two to three fingers above the water surface, leave exposed overnight. Gently scoop up the oily film floating on the lime surface, which has solidified like cloud slices, along with some water, into a bowl. Obtain one zhong of lime water, mix with one zhong of sesame oil, stir vigorously with a bamboo stick for a hundred turns to form a thick paste. Mix with the aforementioned powders to achieve appropriate consistency. Do not wash with decoction; apply evenly to the wound, cover with paper, and bind with cloth. In summer, leave for one day; in winter, for two days. Then wash clean with scallion decoction and reapply, continuing until swelling subsides and pain stops.
[Prescription Verse] *Qingliang Niantong Jinhuang San*, add three qian of borneol powder. For broken flogging wounds with much pain, mix with lime water and oil for application to cure.
Another Formula: *Dacheng Tang* (See Trauma/Falls Section)
*Shengji Yuhong Gao* (See Ulcer Section)
