[Formula Song] Nasal polyps (Nasalis Polypus) initially resemble pomegranate seeds; after a long time, they hang down, becoming purple and hard, obstructing airflow. This is caused by the stagnation of wind-dampness and heat in the Lung Meridian (Lung Channel). Internal administration of Xinyi Qingfei Yin (Magnolia Flower Decoction to Clear the Lungs) and external application of Qisha San (Borax Powder) will resolve it.
[Note] This condition arises inside the nose, shaped like a pomegranate seed, gradually enlarging and hanging down, with a purple color and slight hardness, blocking the nasal cavity and making breathing difficult. It is formed by the condensation and stagnation of wind-dampness and heat in the Lung Meridian.
Internally administer Xinyi Qingfei Yin (Magnolia Flower Decoction to Clear the Lungs) to clear Lung heat; externally apply Qisha San (Borax Powder) daily until it gradually liquefies and heals. One should avoid rich and greasy foods and prevent sudden anger, so that recurrence may be prevented.
Formula: Xinyi Qingfei Yin (Magnolia Flower Decoction to Clear the Lungs)
Composition: Xin Yi (Flos Magnoliae, 6 fen), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, raw, 5 fen), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum, calcined), Zhi Mu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae), Zhi Zi (Fructus Gardeniae, raw and crushed), Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae, each 1 qian), Pi Pa Ye (Folium Mori, de-haired, honey-fried, 3 leaves), Sheng Ma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae, 3 fen), Bai He (Bulbus Lilii), Mai Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis, heart removed, each 1 qian).
Add two zhong of water, decoct to obtain eight fen, take after meals. Alternatively, add Qiang Huo (Rhizoma Notopterygii), Fang Feng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Lian Qiao (Fructus Forsythiae), Bo He (Herba Menthae).
[Formula Song] For nasal polyps use Xinyi Qingfei Yin (Magnolia Flower Decoction to Clear the Lungs), containing Xin Yi, Gan Cao, Shi Gao, Zhi Zi, Zhi Mu, Huang Qin, Pi Pa Ye, Sheng Ma, Bai He, Mai Dong,
or add Qiang Huo, Lian Qiao, Bo He as appropriate.
Another Formula: Qisha San (Borax Powder) (See Ear Section, Auricular Polyp)
[Formula Song] Pulmonary acne (Pulmonary Acne) stems from heat in the Lung Meridian; papules appear on the face and nose, red, swollen, and painful. When ruptured, powdery fluid or scales emerge. Pi Pa Dao Dian (a method involving Pi Pa Qing Fei Yin and Dian Dao San) naturally achieves efficacy.
[Note] This condition is caused by blood-heat in the Lung Meridian. It often occurs on the face and nose, starting as small papules resembling millet husks, red in color, swollen and painful. Upon rupture, white powdery fluid is discharged, eventually forming white scales resembling millet grains over time. It is suitable to internally administer Pi Pa Qing Fei Yin (Loquat Leaf Decoction to Clear the Lungs) and externally apply Dian Dao San (Inverted Powder) for gradual recovery.
Formula: Pi Pa Qing Fei Yin (Loquat Leaf Decoction to Clear the Lungs)
Composition: Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, 3 fen), Pi Pa Ye (Folium Mori, brushed clean of hairs, honey-fried, 2 qian), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, raw, 3 fen), Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis, 1 qian), Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori, fresh is best, 2 qian), Huang Bo (Cortex Phellodendri, 1 qian).
Add one and a half zhong of water, decoct to obtain seven fen, take after meals.
[Formula Song] Pi Pa Qing Fei Yin (Loquat Leaf Decoction to Clear the Lungs) uses Pi Pa Ye, combined with Ren Shen, Gan Cao, Huang Lian, Sang Bai Pi, Huang Bo decocted together and taken after meals,
suitable for all cases of pulmonary acne.
Another Formula: Dian Dao San (Inverted Powder)
Composition: Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), Liu Huang (Sulfur, equal parts).
Grind into fine powder, mix thoroughly, then grind evenly. Mix with cool water and apply topically.
[Formula Song] The topical effect of Dian Dao San (Inverted Powder) is excellent; Da Huang and Liu Huang are ground separately into fine powder, mixed equally and evenly, then blended with cool water,
specifically treating rhinophyma (Alcoholic Nose) and pulmonary acne.
