The *Duanju Fang* (Short Drama Formulas) treats cases of ingested gold dust, for those who appear dead but are not yet deceased:
If it is confirmed that the person has ingested gold dust, one can pour one tael of mercury into their mouth, shake the body to allow the mercury to reach deep into the throat, resembling a seated corpse posture, causing the mercury to flow downward. The gold will dissolve into mud and be expelled from the lower orifices shortly thereafter. Before the gold is expelled, although the person appears dead, they will regain consciousness. This process may be repeated three times; after administration, life will be restored.
Current analysis: The *Bencao* (Materia Medica) states: Mercury eliminates the toxicity of gold, silver, copper, and iron.
The *Bencao* (Materia Medica) records methods to resolve the toxicity of ingested gold:
Ingest several taels of mercury, which will cause expulsion.
Another formula: Duck blood and egg white juice.
Yet another formula: Juice obtained by washing chicken feces with water also resolves the toxicity.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Ge’s Formulas) provides methods for accidentally swallowing nails, needles, arrowheads, and other iron objects:
Simply consume large amounts of fatty mutton or beef fat; the various fats will naturally coat the foreign bodies and expel them.
The *Duanju Fang* (Short Drama Formulas) treats accidental swallowing of needles:
Take magnetite powder, warm it, and administer one cunbi (a measure equivalent to a square inch) with warm water.
The *Seng Shen Fang* (Monk Shen’s Formulas) treats accidental swallowing of nails, arrows, needles, and iron objects. (Current analysis: The *Bencao* (Materia Medica) states: Iron toxicity can be resolved using magnetite.)
Smelt charcoal into powder and drink it; the object will be expelled along with the needle.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Ge’s Formulas) addresses accidentally swallowing hooks and ropes. If the hook remains in hand, do not pull it forcibly.
Instead, add pearls or coix seeds (Coicis Semen); thread them onto the rope, gently push until reaching the hook, and then slightly pull to extract it. (This aligns with the *Si Ji Fang* (Private Traces Formulas).)
Another method: Use only the head of the "Da Li" (possibly referring to a specific tool or part), facing west or looking back, or manipulate the neck area, and slightly pull to extract.
Yet another method: Take mole crickets, remove their bodies, and swallow only their heads, several pieces at a time. (Current analysis: This aligns with the *Si Ji Fang* (Private Traces Formulas).)
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Ge’s Formulas) treats ingestion of pearls, copper, and iron (or biting injuries):
Heat the copper from a crossbow until red hot, immerse it in water, and drink the resulting liquid; the object will be expelled immediately.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) treats ingestion of pearls, copper, and iron:
Burn fourteen eagle feathers to ash, grind into powder, and ingest. Feathers from domesticated geese kept at home may also be used.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Ge’s Formulas) treats accidental swallowing of coins:
Crush burning charcoal and ingest one cunbi; the coin will be expelled.
Another method: Ingest two sheng (a volume measure) of honey; the coin will be expelled.
The *Duanju Fang* (Short Drama Formulas) treats coins stuck in the throat:
Take quicklime, crush and sieve it, and administer one cunbi with warm water; the coin will descend and be expelled.
Another method: Take five liang of mugwort (Artemisia argyi), finely chop, boil in five sheng of water until reduced to one sheng, and take as a single dose; the coin will be expelled.
