The *Classic* (Huangdi Neijing) states: For all heat syndromes, sweating is desired to facilitate the free flow of Qi; however, if the skin is dense and tight, sweat cannot be excreted. In wind-pathogen diseases, the desire for sweat but inability to produce it leads to bodily fatigue, while the skin...
*Fan Wang's Formulas* treats wind-induced sweating:
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), 1 liang; Muli (Ostreae Concha), 1 liang; Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), 1 liang.
These three substances are ground and sifted into one sheng of powder, mixed with three sheng of white powder (likely rice starch), and applied as a dusting powder. When preparing to apply, warm the powder slightly in a copper pot; this is excellent.
*Seng Shen's Formulas* treats wind-induced sweating accompanied by shortness of breath:
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), 10 fen (another version says 3 liang); Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), 6 fen (another version says 3 liang); Muli (Ostreae Concha), 3 fen (another version says 3 liang).
These three substances are ground and sifted. Take one fangcun bi (a square-inch measure) with wine, three times daily.
*Zhoubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Daohan (Night Sweats) refers to sweating during sleep, caused by Yang deficiency. If prolonged, it leads to emaciation and weakness.
*Muli San* (Oyster Shell Powder) from *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) treats night sweats occurring immediately upon lying down and headache:
Muli (Ostreae Concha), 3 liang (calcined); Shu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), 3 liang; Fangfeng (Sapothnikoviae Radix), 3 liang.
Take these three ingredients with wine, one fangcun bi per dose, once daily. There is no better remedy for stopping sweat; it cures all types of abnormal sweating.
*Luyan Fang* (Verified Record Formulas) Zhihan Shigao San (Stop-Sweat Gypsum Powder):
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), 4 liang; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), 4 liang.
Grind and sift together. Take one fangcun bi before meals with grain water (rice gruel), three times daily.
*Jiyao Fang* (Extremely Important Formulas) Liaodao Han (Treating Night Sweats):
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), 3 liang; Muli Fen (Powdered Ostreae Concha), 2 liang; Jili Zi (Tribuli Fructus), 2 liang; Shu Mixian (Cooked Rice Flour), 0.5 liang; Bai Mixian (White Rice Flour), 6 he.
Process the above into powder, place in a raw silk bag, and apply to the body when sweating occurs during sleep.
*Fan Wang's Formulas* Mahuang San (Ephedra Powder) for treating night sweats:
Mahuang Gen (Radix Ephedrae), 3 fen; Gu Baishan Shao Xie (Ash from old discarded fans), 1 fen.
These two substances are ground and sifted. Take three fenbi with milk, three times daily; adults take one fangcun bi, three times daily.
*Xuangan Chuanshi Fang* (Formulas of Xuangan for Transmitted Corpse Disease) states: The disease of Chuanshi (Transmitted Corpse Disease/Tuberculosis) involves deep-rooted parasitic toxicity. Compared to men, women often have accumulation masses (Pi) and劳损 (consumptive damage) as the root. Children are called Wugu (Innocent Disease). It is named Laoji (Extreme Exhaustion) due to deficiency and damage. Heat in the bones is called Gugeng (Bone-steaming Fever); slight coughing is called Feiwei (Lung Atrophy).
It further states: The discussion says: Generally, symptoms of Chuanshi in both men and women include chest fullness and oppression, irritability and pain in the back and shoulders, issues with the eyes..., sleeping much and rising little, slight fever, facial appearance..., intercourse with ghosts, or..., spirit remains relatively good..., sinking and emaciation, resembling...
It also states: The discussion says: Chuanshi disease originates without apparent cause; it affects people of all ages and genders. Generally, this disease spreads through contact, first transmitting toxic qi internally, circulating through the five zang organs, gradually leading to emaciation and death. After death, it transfers to another relative, hence the name Chuanshi; it is also called Zhuanzhu (Rotating Transmission). Because initially the patient lies half-upright, it is called KT; internal transmission to the five zang organs is called Fulian (Hidden Smelting). If not treated, it can lead to the extinction of the family. For example, if a man suffers from deficiency damage leading to soreness and pain in the waist and spine..., it then transmits to the heart..., loss of taste, once the heart is affected..., sensitivity to smells..., stabbing pain, or..., blood color..., often..., unable to fall asleep. Once the Liver is affected, it transmits to the Spleen. Initially, the Spleen receives pathogenic qi, causing distension in the hypochondrium, indigestion, occasional thirst and diarrhea, undigested food in stool, occasional arm pain..., red-black fluid..., until...
It also states: Secret formula for treating the mutual infection of Chuanshi, Gugeng, Fulian, and KT leading to family extinction:

If heat is more severe, add Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), 3 liang (powdered). If appetite is poor, add Sheng Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), 2 liang (core removed).
Cut the nine ingredients, boil in 9 sheng of water to obtain 2.5 sheng, strain and remove dregs. Divide into three warm doses. Take the dose such that the time elapsed is like walking for seven or eight li. For severe cases, take five or six doses.
It also states: Mainly for Chuanshi, Gugeng, and frequent night sweats, a powder for external application:
Mahuang Gen (Radix Ephedrae), 3 fen; Muli Fen (Powdered Ostreae Concha), 3 fen; Jili Zi (Tribuli Fructus), 2 liang; Shu Mishasha (Cooked Rice Sand/Powder), 0.5 liang (powdered); Baizhu Fen (Powdered Atractylodis Rhizoma), 6 fen; Huyanzi (Hu Yan Zhi / Bird's Nest Lip? Note: Text likely implies a specific pigment or herb, literally "Hu Swallow Lip", possibly a typo or obscure term for a coloring agent or herb like Hong Hua or similar, kept as transliteration/contextual note).
Grind and sift the six substances, place in a silk bag, and apply externally when sweating occurs at night during sleep.
