According to *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases), steaming disorders consist of five types: the first is called Gu Zheng (Bone Steaming), the second Mai Zheng (Vessel Steaming), the third Pi Zheng (Skin Steaming), the fourth Rou Zheng (Flesh Steaming), and the fifth Nei Zheng (Internal Steaming).
It further states that there are twenty-three types of steaming disorders. The first is Bao Zheng (Bladder Steaming); the second is Yu Fang Zheng (Genital Steaming); the third is Nao Zheng (Brain Steaming); the fourth is Sui Zheng (Marrow Steaming); the fifth is Gu Zheng (Bone Steaming); the sixth is Jin Zheng (Tendon Steaming); the seventh is Xue Zheng (Blood Steaming); the eighth is Mai Wei Zheng (Vessel-Stomach Steaming)... [text missing up to the twenty-third].
*Xuan Gan Chuan Shi Fang* (Formulas for Infectious Corpse Transmission) states in its discussion: People generally only know the name of Gu Zheng (Bone Steaming) but are unaware of other steaming disorders such as Xin Zheng (Heart Steaming) and Shen Zheng (Kidney Steaming), etc.
It further states: To treat the five types of Zheng disorders, which are caused by toxic qi adhering to the bones, Sheng Di Huang Zhi (Raw Rehmannia Root Juice) is commonly used without limitation on the number of days; this formula is miraculous, etc.
It further states: The first type, Gu Zheng (Bone Steaming), has its root in the Kidney. The body feels cool upon waking in the morning but becomes hot in the evening. There is irritability, insomnia, loss of appetite, and yellow-red urine... [text missing] consumes people... one dose...
The second type is Mai Zheng (Vessel Steaming). Its root is in the Heart. Irritation and oppression increase daily, accompanied by flailing of hands and feet, thirst, salivation with delirious speech, or fright and restlessness, with a rapid pulse.
Ku Shen (Sophora Root, two liang), Qing Xiang (Celosia Seed, two liang), Ai Ye (Mugwort Leaf, one liang), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, one liang, honey-fried).
Cut into pieces, decoct in four sheng of water until one and a half sheng remains. Divide into two doses. Hold in the sheep bladder and irrigate the lower orifices. If urination does not improve, administer Mang Xiao (Mirabilite) using a cun bi measure.
The third type is Pi Zheng (Skin Steaming). Its root is in the Lung. There must be severe panting, dry nose, absence of saliva in the mouth, white coating on the tongue, and urine red as blood. During peak steaming heat, there is chest fullness, or self-reported "Zhure" (infectious heat), distension under both hypochondria, severe cough, pain radiating through the back to the Spleen region, and restless sleep. Or, steaming toxins damage the zang-fu organs, causing hemoptysis. Urgently administer Liang Xiao (Mirabilite), one liang, no more than three times a day. After ingestion, soak hands in cold water and apply compresses to the intercostal spaces and above the axillae. Moxibustion of seven moxa cones is applied from the third intercostal space below down to the hollow of the axilla.
The fourth type is Rou Zheng (Flesh Steaming). Its root is in the Spleen. The body feels hot as fire, with irritability and anhidrosis. There is abdominal distension, nausea after eating, urine resembling blood, and constipation with difficult defecation.
Water one... arbitrarily...
The fifth type is Rou Zheng (Flesh Steaming), also named Xue Zheng (Blood Steaming). It is called Nei Zheng (Internal Steaming) because there is external cold but internal heat; when the hand touches the bone, the flesh feels very hot. Its root lies in the five zang and six fu organs... the dorsum of the foot... above... must...
It further states: Mainly treats men suffering from deficiency-labor injury, nocturnal emission, night sweats, dribbling of urine, dampness and weakness in the yin region, approaching the formation of Gu Zheng (Bone Steaming). Remove the wheat and Mai Men Dong [Note: Text implies retaining specific components or a procedural error in source, translated literally], then decoct again until three sheng remain. It further states: Xiao Long Dan Wan (Minor Gentian Pill) treats Gu Zheng (Bone Steaming) with body heat, vexing heat in hands and feet, mental restlessness (Ao Nu), emaciation, and inability to eat:

It further states: Moxibustion formulas for Gu Zheng (Bone Steaming) and Pi Qi (Masses/Collective Qi):
Apply seven moxa cones to Jian Jing (GB21) on both shoulders, Shang Lian (LI13), and Xia Lian (LI9).
