Treatment for Zouma Hou Bi (Horse-Running Throat Closure) and swelling and pain caused by sores and toxins in the throat.
Danfan (Alum), Tongqing (Malachite Green), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus), Yanxiao (Niter). (Equal parts of each)
Grind the above substances into a fine powder. For each application, take an amount equivalent to "Yi Zi" (a traditional unit of weight, approx. 0.5-1g) and insufflate it into the throat; immediate effect is observed. In cases of Zouma Hou Bi where the jaw is tightly clenched and consciousness is lost, use an iron instrument to pry open the mouth, mix "Yi Zi" of the powder with cold water, and administer orally.
Treatment for Zouma Hou Bi (Horse-Running Throat Obstruction) and various throat diseases. Use this formula when the condition is mild. If the throat swelling is severe such that the throat is invisible and needle or drug treatment is not feasible, crush Semen Cannabis (Cannabis Seed), roll it into a paper tube, ignite one end, and fumigate the inside of the throat with the smoke until relief is achieved.
Another formula: Indicated for the same conditions as above. Use this formula when the condition is acute.
Badou (Crotonis Fructus, Shell removed), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Shexiang (Moschus).
Roll soft cotton paper into a wick, cut it, and insert it into the nostril. Alternatively, make a wick from Badou-oiled paper, ignite it, and fumigate.
Another formula: Treatment for Feng Re Hou Bi (Wind-Heat Throat Obstruction) and Chan Hou Feng (Coiling-Throat Wind).
Yanxiao (Saltpeter, 1 liang 5 qian), Pengsha (Borax, 5 qian), Bingpian (Borneol, Yi Zi), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, 1 qian).
Grind the above into a powder. Take a small amount each time, insufflate into the throat, and hold it in the mouth; saliva will be produced and expectorated.
Another formula: Treatment for Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction) where needle treatment cannot be used.
Take a small bottle, burn Suochuangzi (Cnidii Fructus) inside the bottle, direct the bottle's mouth towards the mouth/nose to inhale the smoke; one fumigation session can break the obstruction.
Another formula: Treatment for continuous bleeding from a hole at the top of the throat.
Stir-fry common salt, dip the tip of a chopstick into it, and apply a small amount to the bleeding site. After hemostasis is achieved, use Liang Ge San (Cool the Diaphragm Powder) with modifications to clear heat and resolve toxicity.
Another formula: Treatment for fish bone impaction and Gu Zei (grain pests/foreign bodies) entering the throat.
Mix Yaxiao mo (Tusk Powder) with water and ingest; recovery follows. The powder from old combs is particularly effective.
The mouth is the orifice of the Spleen, and the tongue is the orifice of the Heart; they are the portals through which the Five Flavors enter. When the Qi of the Heart and Spleen meridians is harmonious, the Five Flavors enter the mouth to nourish the Five Viscera. However, if excessive indulgence in the Five Flavors generates accumulated heat that rushes to the mouth and tongue, various diseases arise. Manifesting in the mouth, it is called Kou Chuang (Mouth Sores); injuring the tongue, it becomes She Bing (Tongue Diseases). Nevertheless, treatment must be tailored according to the specific etiology.
Kou Chuang (Mouth Sores) results from Guest Heat in the Spleen causing dryness and sores in the mouth. Suitable formulas include: Liang Ge San (Cool the Diaphragm Powder), Liu Hua San (Willow Flower Powder), Bi Yu San (Jade Green Powder), Hong Fan San (Red Alum Powder), Yu Hong San (Jade Red Powder), Yin Yang San (Yin-Yang Powder) mixed with honey.
Kou Chou (Foul Breath) results from Accumulated Heat in the Stomach and Spleen, causing foul-smelling breath. Suitable formulas include: Han Xiang Wan (Incense-Holding Pill), Sheng Ma Huang Lian Wan (Cimicifugae and Coptis Pill).
Kou Ku (Bitter Taste) is named Dan Bi (Gallbladder Obstruction). Suitable formula: Long Dan Tang (Gentian Decoction).
Jian Chun (Silkworm Lip) involves dryness, itching, and sores on the lips. Suitable formula: Huang Bai San (Phellodendron Powder).
Chong She (Double Tongue) involves the formation of a small tongue under the main tongue with swelling and pain, caused by residual Heat in the Heart Meridian. Suitable formulas include: Niu Huang San (Calculus Bovis Powder), Xuanshen San (Scrophulariae Radix Powder), Huang Lian San (Coptidis Rhizoma Powder).
Mu She (Wood Tongue) involves gradual enlargement of the tongue, potentially filling the mouth. Suitable formulas include: Fei Fan San (Calcined Alum Powder), Xi Jiao Tang (Rhinoceros Horn Decoction), Suo She Tang (Retracting Tongue Decoction).
She Shang Chu Xue (Bleeding from the Tongue) results from Heat harbored in the Heart causing reckless blood flow, leading to bleeding from small pores on the tongue. Suitable formulas include: Huang Lian Tang (Coptis Decoction), Jin Hua San (Golden Flower Powder), Sheng Ma Tang (Cimicifugae Decoction), Pu Huang San (Typha Pollen Powder), Huai Hua San (Sophora Flower Powder).
