Dahuang Tang (Rhubarb Decoction)
Treats lower abdominal hardness and swelling the size of a palm, with heat, pain upon pressure, normal or red and swollen skin color, and frequent urination.
Poxiao (Mirabilitum, 朴硝), Dahuang (Rhubarb, 大黄) (each 1 qian), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex, 牡丹皮), Gualouren (Trichosanthis Semen, 栝蒌仁), Taoren (Persicae Semen, 桃仁) (peeled and pointed, each 2 qian).
Decoct in plain water and take warm on an empty stomach.
Meiren Tang (Mume Seed Decoction)
Treats intestinal abscess (changyong) with dull pain and constipation or difficult defecation.
Meiren (Mume Semen, 梅仁) (nine pieces, peeled and pointed), Dahuang (Rhubarb, 大黄), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex, 牡丹皮), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 芒硝) (each 1 qian), Xijiao (Rhinoceri Cornu, 犀角) (1 qian), Dongguaren (Benincasae Semen, 冬瓜仁) (2 qian).
Decoct in plain water and take on an empty stomach.
Lafan Wan (Beeswax and Alum Pill)
Formula seen previously. Treats intestinal abscess (changyong) with soft lower abdominal pain and a surging (hong) and rapid (shuo) pulse.
Painong San (Pus-Expelling Powder)
Treats intestinal abscess (changyong) with lower abdominal distending pain, or tenesmus (liji houzhong), or occasional pus discharge.
Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 黄芪), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归), Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos, 金银花), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 白芷), Chuanshanjia (Manis Squama, 穿山甲), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 防风), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, 连翘), Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus, 栝蒌) (each 1 qian).
Decoct in plain water and take. Alternatively, grind into powder and take mixed with honey water.
Yiyiren Tang (Coicis Semen Decoction)
Treats intestinal abscess (changyong) with gripping abdominal pain (jiao tong), or distention and fullness, and loss of appetite.
Yiyiren (Coicis Semen, 薏苡仁), Gualouren (Trichosanthis Semen, 栝蒌仁), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex, 牡丹皮), Taoren (Persicae Semen, 桃仁).
Decoct in plain water and take.
Sisheng San (Four Sages Powder)
Treats intestinal abscess (changyong) with soft lower abdominal pain.
Sheng Huang Gualou (raw yellow Trichosanthis Fructus, 生黄栝蒌) (one piece, peeled), Fencao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma powder, 粉草) (4 qian, powdered), Moyao (Myrrha, 没药) (2 qian, powdered), Ruxiang (Olibanum, 乳香) (1 qian, powdered).
Decoct the above in two large bowls of good wine until reduced to one bowl. Divide into two doses and finish within two days. Passing foul matter in the stool is considered favorable.
Mudan San (Moutan Powder)
Treats intestinal abscess (changyong) syndrome with a soft abdomen and pain, and frequent discharge of pus.
Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex, 牡丹皮) (1 qian), Dahuang (Rhubarb, 大黄) (stir-fried), Taoren (Persicae Semen, 桃仁) (peeled and pointed), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 芒硝) (each 2 qian), Gualouren (Trichosanthis Semen, 栝蒌仁) (1 qian).
Fuyuan Tongqi San (Original Qi-Restoring and Qi-Freeing Powder)
Treats initial stage of breast abscess (ruyong) with hard lump formation, swelling, pain, obstruction, and chills and fever.
Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 青皮), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 白芷), Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus, 贝母), Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus, 茴香), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 木香), Ruxiang (Olibanum, 乳香), Loulu (Rhapontici Radix, 漏芦), Chuanshanjia (Manis Squama, 穿山甲), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮).
Decoct in plain water. When 80% done, add one zhong of good wine and take together.
Liuqi San (Qi-Flowing Powder)
Treats the same condition as above.
Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 桔梗), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 人参), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归), Guangui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 官桂), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 黄芪), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, 厚朴), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 防风), Zisu (Perillae Folium, 紫苏), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix, 芍药), Wuyao (Linderae Radix, 乌药), Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus, 枳壳), Binglang (Arecae Semen, 槟榔), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 木香), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 川芎), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 白芷).
Decoct in plain water and take.
Pugongying San (Dandelion Powder)
Treats breast swelling and pain with chills and fever.
Pugongying (Taraxaci Herba, 蒲公英), Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos, 金银花), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 青皮), Juye (Citri Reticulatae Folium, 橘叶), Gancaojie (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma nodi, 甘草节), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 白芷), Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus, 贝母), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 桔梗).
Decoct in plain water and take.
Shenxiao Gualou San (Miraculous Trichosanthes Powder)
Treats breast abscess (ruyong); disperses it in the initial stage and resolves it once formed.
Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus, 栝蒌) (large, two pieces), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归) (each 5 qian), Moyao (Myrrha, 没药), Ruxiang (Olibanum, 乳香) (separately ground, each 1 qian).
Decoct in two zhong of water and half a zhong of wine until reduced to 80%. Take after meals.
Lianqiao Yin (Forsythia Beverage)
Treats hard breast lumps that do not disperse. If there are exterior syndrome (biao zheng) symptoms in the initial stage, it is appropriate to first resolve the exterior.
Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, 连翘), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 川芎), Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus, 栝蒌), Zaojiaoci (Gleditsiae Spina, 皂角刺), Juye (Citri Reticulatae Folium, 橘叶), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 青皮), Gancaojie (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma nodi, 甘草节), Taoren (Persicae Semen, 桃仁).
Decoct in plain water and take.
Fu Ru Yao (Breast Application Medicine)
Treats breast abscess (ruyong) with swelling, pain, chills and fever.
Nanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, 南星), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 半夏), Zaojiaoci (Gleditsiae Spina, 皂角刺) (charred retaining properties, each 2 fen), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 白芷), Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, 草乌), Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, 僵蚕) (each 1 fen).
Grind the above into powder. Pound together with scallion white (cong bai) and honey for topical application. If the sore has broken open, apply with a plaster. This medicine must not be taken orally.
Xun Ru Fa (Breast Fumigation Method)
Treats chui ru (mastitis during lactation).
Burn paper money inside a small, long jar. Quickly place the jar mouth against the breast to draw out the toxic qi (du qi).
Neituo Ruxiang San (Internal Support and Frankincense Powder)
Treats black bean-like sores on the nipple with sunken tops.
Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 升麻), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 黄芪), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, 连翘), Guangui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 官桂), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草), Huangbai (Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex, 黄柏), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, 牛蒡子), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 白芷), Ruxiang (Olibanum, 乳香).
Decoct with three slices of ginger and take.
Neituo Xiaodu San (Internal Support and Toxin-Dispersing Powder)
Treats initial stage of breast cancer (ru ai) with internal nodules and not much pain.
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 人参), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 川芎), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix, 芍药), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 白术), Fuling (Poria, 茯苓), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 白芷), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草), Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos, 金银花).
Jiawei Bazhen Tang (Modified Eight-Gem Decoction)
Treats breast cancer (ru ai) that does not heal over a long period.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 川芎), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix, 芍药), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 熟地黄), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 白术), Fuling (Poria, 茯苓), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 人参), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草), Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus, 贝母), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 青皮), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 桔梗), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, 柴胡).
Decoct with three slices of ginger and one piece of jujube (da zao) and take.
Dabu Tang (Great Tonifying Decoction)
Formula seen previously. Treats breast ulceration with non-drying pus and non-closing sore. Use with modifications.
