Treats phlegm-fluid retention in the diaphragm.
Guang Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, remove the white pith, 8 liang, soak and wash with salt water) Gancao (Licorice Root, 2 liang, honey-fried). Form into pills using steamed cake paste. Alternatively, boil Chenpi until soft in salt water.
This is a formula for the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. Chenpi dries dampness and promotes qi movement; when dampness is removed, phlegm dries up; when qi flows smoothly, phlegm moves; Salt water moistens downward and softens hardness; moistening downward causes phlegm to...
(From *Jin Gui Yao Lue* / Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Cabinet)
Treats phlegm-fluid retention under the heart, with fullness and distension supporting from the chest and hypochondrium, and vertigo (thin fluid is called "Yin", thick substance is called "Tan"; when Tan-Yin accumulates in the Jueyin Pericardium, it causes chest and hypochondrial fullness and distension).
Fuling (Poria, 4 liang) Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 3 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root, 2 liang).
This is a formula for the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. Yu Jiayan stated: Fuling treats phlegm-fluid retention, attacks Kidney pathogenic factors, and渗利 (seeps and drains) the water passages; Guizhi unblocks Yang Qi, opens collaterals, and harmonizes Ying and Wei; Baizhu dries phlegm-water, eliminates distension, and treats wind-induced vertigo; Gancao combined with Fuling does not contribute to fullness but rather reduces it, thus *Ben Cao* states: Gancao can descend Qi.

Treats Phlegm-Heat syndrome (Hot Phlegm refers to phlegm formed due to excessive Fire. Phlegm is tangible Fire, Fire is intangible Phlegm; Phlegm rises and falls with Fire, Fire guides Phlegm to move horizontally; various syndromes arise, too numerous to record. Fire borrows Qi from the Five Zang Organs, Phlegm borrows fluids from the Five Flavors; Excess Qi transforms into Fire, Excess Fluids condense into Phlegm; therefore...)
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, processed with Ginger Juice) Danningxing (Arisaematis Cum Bile, half liang) Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum) Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit, stir-fried with bran) Xingren (Prunus Armeniacae Semen, remove skin and tips) Gualouren (Trichosanthis Semen, remove oil) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix)...
This is a formula for the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian, a general agent for treating Phlegm-Fire. Qi can generate Fire, Fire can drive Phlegm; Banxia and Nanxing dry dampness; Huangqin and Gualou calm heat; Chenpi regulates interior Qi, Xingren descends rebellious Qi, Zhishi breaks accumulated Qi, Fuling moves Water Qi. Water-dampness and Fire-heat are the root sources of Phlegm generation. Generally, excessive Qi becomes Fire, just as people rebelling become bandits; once bandits are pacified, they return to being good citizens and resume their occupations; when water recedes, it returns to...
