At the Beginning of Spring, Tianliu (Heavenly Stay) is located in the Gen Palace (Northeast). On Wuyin and Jichou days, seek it on the left foot (avoid). At the Spring Equinox, Cangmen (Warehouse Gate) is located on the left hypochondrium, corresponding to the Zhen Palace (East). If encountered on Yimao day, it is designated as a taboo. During the Beginning of Spring, on Wuchen and Jisi days, the Yinluo Palace (Yin Collateral Palace) in the Xun Palace (Southeast) causes sorrow for the left hand (avoid). On Bingwu day at Summer Solstice, Shangtian (Heavenly Heaven) corresponds to the Ying and throat area, representing the Li Palace (South, head). At the Beginning of Autumn, Xuanwei (Mysterious Granary) is on the right hand, corresponding to the Kun Palace (Southwest), moving upstream in Kun position on Wushen and Jiwei days (avoid). At the Autumn Equinox, Cangguo (Warehouse Fruit) is in the West Dui Palace (West); on Xinyou day, still seek the right hypochondrium (avoid). At the Beginning of Winter, Xinluo (New Luo) is added to the right foot, corresponding to the Qian Palace (Northwest), gathering in Qian position on Wuxu and Jihai days (avoid). At Winter Solstice, Yezhe (Leaf Hiding) in the Kan Palace (North) flows to the Yaoqiao (lower back/buttocks) and lower orifices on Renzi day. The five zang organs, six fu organs, and umbilical abdomen correspond to the Zhongzhou (Central Earth) on Zhao Yao and other Wu-Ji days. When treating ulcers and carbuncles, one must avoid these days; violating these heavenly taboos makes the disease difficult to cure.
When performing acupuncture, one must understand the Blood Taboo days: Chou day of the first month, Wei day of the third month, Shen day of the fourth month, Mao day of the fifth month, You day of the sixth month, Chen day of the seventh month, Xu day of the eighth month, Si day of the ninth month, Hai day of the tenth month, Wu day of the eleventh month, and Zi day of the twelfth month when encountering the Closed Day (clashing with the monthly branch).
(One verse: Ancient method of Kaoshen [Sacrum Spirit], starting from the natal palace in the first year, adding to Chen in the second year, flying through the Nine Palaces annually.)
Kaoshen in the Kun Palace affects the ankle and sacrum; in the Zhen Palace, the teeth and jaws; in the Xun Palace, the head, mouth, and breasts are incurable (avoid). The Central Palace corresponds to the shoulder and sacrum; the Qian Palace's back cannot cover the face and eyes (avoid). The Dui Palace's arms are difficult to treat with Bian stones or moxibustion; the Gen Palace's neck and waist should not have moxa applied; the Li Palace's knees and ribs are hard to needle; the Kan Palace's elbows belong to the stomach and legs (avoid).
On the 1st, 11th, and 21st days, the shadow falls on the big toe of the foot, nasal bridge, and little finger of the hand. On the 12th, 22nd, and 32nd days, the external malleolus, hairline, and external malleolus position. On the 3rd, 13th, and 23rd days, the inner thigh, teeth, feet, and liver. On the 4th, 14th, and 24th days on the right, the waist, stomach epigastrium, and Yangming hand meridian. On the 5th, 15th, and 25th days together, inside the mouth, whole body, and Foot-Yangming meridian. On the 6th, 16th, and 26th days similarly, palms, chest front, and again in the chest. On the 7th, 17th, and 27th days, internal malleolus, Qichong acupoint, and knees. On the 8th, 18th, and 28th days at Chen hour, inside the wrist, inner thigh, and yin regions. On the 9th, 19th, and 29th days, at the sacrum, feet, and posterior knee/shin. On the 10th, 20th, and 30th days, seek in the lower back, internal malleolus, and dorsum of the foot.
Forbidden acupuncture points must be known first: Naohu, Xinhui, and Shenting; Luoque, Yuwan (likely typo for Yupzhen/Yuzhen in original text, but translated as written), Jiaosun; Lufeng, Chengqi following Chengling; Shendao, Lingtai, and Danzhong are forbidden. Shuifen, Shenguan (likely Shenque/Guan yuan), and Huiyin. Henggu, Qichong, Shouwuli, Jimen, Chengjin, and Qingling. Plus Sanyangluo on the arm, totaling twenty-two points that must not be needled. Pregnant women should not needle Hegu; Sanyinjiao also follows this rule. Stone Gate (Shimen) acupuncture/moxibustion must be avoided; if women needle Shimen, they will never conceive. Additionally, Yunmen and Jiutail; Quepen and Kerenman should not be deep. Deep needling of Jianjing causes fainting; urgent tonification of Zusanli restores calmness.
