Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis), She Xiang (Moschus), Xi Jiao (Rhino Horn) (another version states one zhu, now each uses one fen), Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori Radicis), Fu Ling (Poria), Gan Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum), Gui Xin (Cortex Cinnamomi), Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Xiong Diao (Radix Chuanxiong), Shao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Gan Sui (Radix Euphorbiae Kansui), Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae), Shu Jiao (Fructus Zanthoxyli), Xi Xin (Herba Asari), Jie Geng (Radix Platycodonis), Ba Dou (Semen Crotonis), Qian Hu (Radix Peucedani), Zi Wan (Radix Asteris), Pu Huang (Pollen Typhae), Ting Li (Semen Lepidii et Descurainiae), Fang Feng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) (each uses one fen). Wu Gong (Centipede) (three segments), Shi Xi Yi (Lacerta), Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng) (one cun long), Zhu Sha (Cinnabaris), Xiong Huang (Realgar), Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Da Ji (Radix Euphorbiae Humifusae), Yuan Hua (Flos Genkwa), Yu Yu Liang (Hematitum), Yuan Qing (Mylabris) (seven pieces).
The above thirty-one medicinal materials are all required to be processed finely. Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis), She Xiang (Moschus), Xi Jiao (Rhino Horn), Zhu Sha (Cinnabaris), Xiong Huang (Realgar), Yu Yu Liang (Hematitum), and Ba Dou (Semen Crotonis) should be ground separately; the remaining materials are combined and pounded. After forming pills, take them with a gruel made from lard, chive juice, or bone broth. Consuming three to four doses is highly effective, but do not eat until fully satisfied. Contraindicated for pregnant women. After vomiting and diarrhea, one must keep the mouth closed and speak little, resting in a windless place on a warm bed in a warm room. If sudden illness occurs during travel without access to water, taking it with a small amount of water is best. For infants under one year old who are ill, the nursing mother should take an amount equivalent to two small bean-sized pills; the effect is also measured by mild vomiting and diarrhea. This formula is used for both chronic accumulated diseases and sudden acute illnesses. For long-standing diseases, reduce the dosage; generally, aim for slight loose stools as the limit. Cui Shi's version excludes Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae), Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori Radicis), Jie Geng (Radix Platycodonis), and Fang Feng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), totaling twenty-seven ingredients.
