Taking Dihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) prevents hair from turning white.
Fan A sought a prescription from the Master, asking for something that could be ingested to benefit the body. The Master taught him Qiyè Qingmian San (Lac Leaf and Green Face Powder). The ratio is: one dou of Lac Leaf fragments and fourteen liang of Qingmian.
Following this ratio, it was said that long-term consumption removes the "Three Worms" (parasites), benefits the Five Zang organs, lightens the body, and prevents hair whitening. Fan A followed this advice and lived to be over one hundred years old.
Note: Qiyè (Lac Leaf) may refer to the leaves of the lac tree, which contain oily resins; or it may refer to Huangjing (Polygonatum Rhizome), which strongly tonifies Qi. Qingmian is another name for Dihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root), also known as Huangzhi. It primarily regulates the Five Zang organs and benefits Essence and Qi. In the past, a mountain wanderer saw immortals frequently consuming this herb and told the Master about it. Upon testing, it proved highly effective. The Master then shared this formula with Fan A. Fan A initially kept it secret but later leaked it while drunk, and thus the formula was passed down to later generations.
