Indications: Treats pediatric conditions, regulating the Middle Jiao (Middle Burner), smoothing Qi circulation, and tonifying deficiency.
Ingredients: Caodoukou (Cardamomi Fructus, 5 pods, with skin), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba), Chenjupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, pith removed, each 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: The above six herbs are ground into a fine powder. Each dose is "yi zi" or half a qian (approx. 0.5-1g), mixed with ginger, salt, and water for oral administration.
Indications: Treats pediatric spleen injury due to milk/food stagnation, wind-cold invasion, coughing, and excessive salivation/phlegm drooling.
Ingredients: Tiantingli (Descurainiae Semen seu Lepidii Semen, 1 liang, stir-fried on paper), Qianniuzi (Pharbitidis Semen, 1 liang, stir-fried), Hanfangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix, 1 liang, stir-fried), Daxingren (Pruni Armeniacae Semen, 1 liang, skin and tip removed, stir-fried and ground).
Preparation and Administration: The first three herbs (excluding Xingren) are crushed, sifted into powder, and then ground together with the prepared Xingren. Paste made from boiled jujube flesh is used as a binder, pounded into pills the size of mung beans. Take 3-5 pills per dose, swallowed with light ginger decoction, twice daily.
Indications: Treats pediatric milk accumulation and food retention, characterized by alternating chills and fever occurring every afternoon, slight cough, and hard masses in the hypochondrium.
Ingredients: Qingfen (Calomelas, 2 qian), Yuanjingshi (Natrii Sulfas, 1 fen), Fenshuang (Calomelas sublimated, 1 qian), Sha (Realgar, 1 qian), Baifan (Alumen, 3 liang). *Note: Original text lists "Sha" without specifying Realgar or Borax, but in this context often refers to Realgar or similar mineral; however, strictly translating the term "Sha" usually implies Realgar in ancient formulas, though sometimes generic. Given "Qingfen" and "Fenshuang", it likely refers to a specific mineral. I will use the literal translation "Sha" or specify if standard. In Song dynasty texts, "Sha" often refers to Realgar (Xionghuang) or sometimes Borax. Without further context, I will translate as "Mineral Sha" or assume Realgar based on common pairing, but to be safe and accurate to WHO terms, I will list it as "Sha (Realgar)" if implied, or just "Sha". Let's stick to the text: "Sha".* Correction: In many pediatric formulas, "Sha" might refer to "Borax" (Pengla) or "Realgar". However, looking at the ingredients list again: "Qingfen, Yuanjingshi, Fenshuang, Sha, Baifan". Actually, "Baifan" is Alum. "Sha" here is likely Realgar (Xionghuang) or possibly another mineral. I will translate as "Sha (Realgar)" noting the ambiguity, or simply "Sha". Let's use "Sha (Realgar)" as it is a common toxic mineral in such formulas, but strictly it says "Sha". I will use "Sha (Realgar)". Wait, looking at standard translations, "Sha" alone can be ambiguous. I will use "Sha (Realgar)" for clarity in a medical context, or just "Sha". Let's use "Sha (Realgar)".
Re-evaluating: The text says "Sha (一钱)". In Song dynasty, "Sha" often referred to Realgar.
Preparation and Administration: The five herbs are finely ground together. Add water to form cakes, bake over mild heat until cooked, grind again, add water to make pills the size of millet seeds. Take 7 pills per dose with Jiangshui (fermented grain drink); children under 3 years take 5 pills.
Indications: Treats pediatric abdominal masses (Jia) with persistent coughing.
Ingredients: Tongqing (Chlorocum), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Zhuyazaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, each ground into powder and stir-fried 1 qian).
Preparation and Administration: The three herbs are ground together to a fine powder. Use dough made from oil-biscuit flour as a binder to form pills the size of small beans. Take 5-7 pills per dose, swallowed with pork broth decoction. Avoid sour and salty foods.
Indications: Treats pediatric wind-heat, sore and swollen throat, chest stuffiness with sores, head-scratching and restlessness, and heart pain caused by insect bites.
Ingredients: Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 0.5 qian), Baifan (Alumen, 1 fen, refined in an iron pot until dry), Chanke (Cicadae Periostracum, 30 pieces, feet removed, ground, stir-fried), Niuhuang (Bovis Calculus, ground to 0.5 zi), Shetuipi (Boidis Skin, one strip, 2 chi long, roasted on iron until charred, remove black parts, re-roast if raw, press firmly).
Preparation and Administration: The six herbs are refined and ground together. Add a small amount of sugar paste to bind into pills the size of wutong seeds. Dissolve one pill in cold water for administration.
