Text says "Legs", usually Saposhnikoviae or Eucommiae. Given "Haitong Pi" is often Saposhnikoviae in some contexts or Peucedani in others, WHO standard for Haitong Pi is Saposhnikoviae Radix. However, text distinguishes Qianghuo/Niu Xi. Let's stick to Saposhnikoviae Radix as per common usage in some regions or Peucedani Radix. Actually, Haitong Pi is often Saposhnikoviae Radix in modern TCM, but historically Peucedani. I will use Saposhnikoviae Radix if distinct from Qianghuo, but here Qianghuo is listed separately. Wait, Qianghuo is Notopterygii. Haitong Pi is often Saposhnikoviae. But Fangfeng is Saposhnikoviae. This text might use Haitong Pi for Peucedani Radix (Qianhu) or Saposhnikoviae. Given "Legs", and distinct from Fangfeng, it might be Peucedani. However, WHO term for Haitong Pi is Saposhnikoviae Radix. I will use Saposhnikoviae Radix but note potential ambiguity. Actually, many sources equate Haitong Pi with Saposhnikoviae. Let's use Saposhnikoviae Radix.), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix, cools blood and nourishes Yin), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, invigorates blood), Guiwei (Tail of Angelicae Sinensis Radix, breaks blood), Xian Shengdi (Fresh Rehmanniae Radix, cools blood), Da Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, greatly tonifies Yin, usable for deficiency during recovery), Xian Shouwu (Fresh Polygoni Multiflori Radix, expels pus and relieves pain), Zhaojia (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, stir-fried, tendons removed, powdered for external application. Holy medicine for Liuzhu, phlegm-toxin, and nameless swellings), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, usable for Duikou with defined borders, strictly contraindicated in Fabei).
The above herbs are all secret guiding essentials. One should study the Materia Medica thoroughly, investigate their functions, carefully examine the syndrome for deficiency/excess and cold/heat, and adjust treatment accordingly. Thus, infinite flexibility and consistent efficacy will be achieved.
Fumigation Formula
Sanjiaofeng (Tripterygium wilfordii or similar local herb, 1 liang) Baosangpi (Mori Cortex, 5 qian)
Grind these two into powder, roll in paper, burn, and fumigate. Once toxic fluids and foul pus are completely discharged, the toxin will naturally dissipate.
Topical Application Formula
DuJiao Longxucao (Local herb, processed by stir-frying and powdered). Add 5 qian of Xiaochenfen (Starch) per liang of herb, mix evenly, and apply with rice vinegar. Moisten with vinegar if dry. Wash off with pork broth before changing dressing.
Use this formula for initial onset of sores. If the sore fails to close after a long time, fumigate and wash with the previous formula. After fumigation, wash with meat broth, dry, sprinkle with Longxucao powder, and cover with Taiyi Gao.
Formula 1
Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 liang) Huafen (Trichosanthes Root, 5 qian) Dabeimu (Fritillaria Bulb, 2.5 qian) Jiaozhen (Gleditsia Thorn, 3.5 qian) Jiapian (Pangolin Scale, 7 pieces, stir-fried with蛤粉/Mercurii Subchloridi Powder), Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper, dosage varies by left/right severity), Gualou (Trichosanthes Fruit, 1 piece), Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root, 1.2 qian)
Add Ruxiang (Olibanum) and Moyao (Myrrha) 1.2 qian each, Wu Jinzi (likely a local mineral or seed, 5 qian). Grind these three together into fine powder. Take while hot with half water and half wine decoction.
For upper lesions, add Fangfeng, Guizhi, and Jiegeng 1 qian each. For middle lesions, add Chuanxiong 2.5 qian. For lower lesions, add Niuxi and Mugua 1.2 qian each, and three green onion heads.
Formula 2
Jiapian (Pangolin Scale, 6 fen, stir-fried with Mercurii Subchloridi Powder), Gancao Jie (Node of Licorice Root, 6 fen), Guiwei (Tail of Angelica Root, 1 qian), Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root, 6 fen), Jiaozhen (Gleditsia Thorn, 8 fen), Jinyinhua (Lonicera Flower, 3 qian), Chishao (Red Peony Root, 6 fen), Huafen (Trichosanthes Root, 8 fen), Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper, 36 grains), Wu Jinzi (5 qian), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, 6 fen), Chenpi (Tangerine Peel, 3 qian), Ruxiang (Olibanum, 6 fen), Moyao (Myrrha, 6 fen), Dazao (Jujube, 7 pieces)
Decoct in water and wine, take two doses. For severe cases, take three doses.
Formula 3 (Duijin Wan / Gold-Mixing Pill)
Da Guiban (Large Tortoise Shell, 1 jin, cleaned), Chenjiu (Aged Wine, 1 jin), Mi Cu (Rice Vinegar, 1 cup), Chuanmi (Sichuan Honey, 1 cup)
Crush the herbs over charcoal fire, collect the three juices, grind into powder, and make pills with glutinous rice starch, size of beans. Take 3 qian. For faster recovery, increase to 5 qian. Take twice daily morning and evening. Total dose of 12 jin leads to complete cure.
Formula 4 (Huangjin Biyu Gao / Golden Jade Paste - Promotes flesh growth, generates muscle, relieves pain)
Baizhan (White Beeswax, 1 liang), Huangzhan (Yellow Beeswax, 5 qian), Toufa (Human Hair, 5 qian), Guishen (Body of Angelica Root, 5 qian)
If painful, add Ruxiang and Moyao 1.5 qian each, Rougui (Cinnamon Bark) 3 qian (powdered), Dafuzi (Large Prepared Aconite) 3 qian (powdered). These two are not for Yang-Toxin. If Yin-Toxin causes non-healing sunken sores, adding them is miraculous.
Process: Use 6 liang of Sesame Oil. First boil human hair until burnt, strain. Then boil Angelica body until burnt, strain. Add Yellow and White Beeswax, melt. Then add Ruxiang and Moyao, melt, and mix uniformly. Apply this paste to sores that do not heal or grow flesh quickly. Cover with good plaster or oil paper. Change every 24 hours. Wash with pig trotter broth. Three changes lead to cure.
Formula 5 (Qufu Wanjindan / Rot-Flesh Ten-Thousand-Gold Pill)
Badou (Croton Seed), amount unspecified. First wash away the white membrane. Then boil in good wine for the duration of one incense stick. Remove excess oil, dry, and grind into fine powder. For sores with necrotic tissue, sift this powder through a sieve onto the wound, then apply the previous paste. Within 24 hours, all necrotic tissue will be removed.
