苟失其养,无物不消,此之谓欤!

The pulse at the Cun and Guan positions of the left hand is flooding, rapid, or wiry and tense, indicating wind-heat in the intestines and stomach, with symptoms of toothache.
If the Chi pulse is flooding yet empty, it indicates Kidney deficiency, primarily manifesting as loose and sparse teeth, with pain caused by Ministerial Fire (deficient fire of the Kidney) flaming upward.
Zhu Danxi stated: Tooth swelling and pain, whether accompanied by loosening or bleeding, all belong to Heat syndromes; one should purge Stomach Fire. In cases of Stomach Excess syndrome, Tiaowei Chengqi Tang (Regulating the Stomach Decoction) can be used with added Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), Bupleuri Radix (Shengma), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjie), Menthae Haplocalycis Herba (Bohe), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao). Externally, Sishen San (Four Divine Powder) mixed with Terminalia chebula resin (Wutonglü) can be ground and applied to the area, or Musk (Shexiang) can be added.
The Classics state: When a person reaches forty, Yin Qi naturally halves. It is also said: At around fifty (five times eight), Kidney Qi declines, hair falls out, and teeth become dry. This shows that upon reaching forty, one must urgently tonify the Kidney and strengthen the teeth without delay. If consolidation and nourishment are maintained before damage occurs, there will be no destruction. The I Ching says: "If nourishment is obtained, nothing does not grow; if nourishment is lost, nothing does not perish." This is exactly what is meant!
Taiping Shenghui Fang states: Those who fear cold water have Heat-type toothaches and should be treated with Natrii Sulfas (Yaxiao), Curcumae Longae Rhizoma (Jianghuang), Realgar (Xionghuang), and Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjie). Those who fear hot water have Cold-type toothaches and should be treated with Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Ganjiang) and Piperis Kadsurae Fructus (Bibo). Those who fear neither cold nor heat have Wind-toothaches, treated with Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus (Zhuyazaojiao), Bombyx Batryticatus (Jiangcan), Vespa Nidus (Fengfang), and Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Caowu). Those with holes have dental caries (worm teeth), treated with Realgar (Xionghuang), Calcined Stone (Duanshi), and Sugar (Shatang). After applying medication, rinse with warm water.
My fellow townsman, Song Wang Chengxiang's concubine, loved rich and strong flavors. One day, severe heat toxicity erupted, causing flesh to protrude from between the teeth, gradually swelling until her mouth could not close, preventing even water or gruel from entering. A physician treated her, and she recovered in a few days. The method involved using one bowl of Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdihuang) juice, taking several pods of Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus (Yazaojiao), heating them over fire, dipping them into the juice until absorbed, grinding them into powder, and applying it to the swollen flesh, which immediately subsided.
Teeth damaged due to lack of care, such as being struck, falling, biting hard objects, or chewing heavy items, are all external causes and cannot be cured by medicine alone. Wise individuals must be cautious about this.

This constitutes the simultaneous application of four treatments.
