When Jueyin Wind-Wood governs the Heaven Qi, Shaoyang Ministerial Fire governs the Earth Qi (Zai Quan), and the central movement is Shao Yu Water Yun. Since the year's Water Qi is insufficient, the Qi transformation operates later than the celestial timing. The interaction of Heaven and Earth Qi manifests as follows: Above, Jueyin Wind-Wood appears; its left interstitial Qi is Shaoyin Monarch Fire, and its right interstitial Qi is Taiyin Damp-Earth; thus, the Heaven Qi is disturbed and its administration is chaotic. Below, Shaoyang Ministerial Fire appears; its left interstitial Qi is Yangming Dryness-Metal, and its right interstitial Qi is Taiyin Cold-Water; thus, the Earth Qi is upright and its commands are swift. Wind arises from high distances, and intense heat follows it. Clouds tend toward the Rain House, and Dampness transformation proceeds. Wind and Fire share the same virtue, corresponding in the heavens to Sui Xing (Jupiter) and Ying Huo (Mars). The corresponding grains are Cang (Green/Cyan) and Dan (Red); regarding inter-grains, it refers to those named after the greater interstitial Qi (i.e., grains generated by the five phases such as Tai Gong and Tai Shang). Their depletion affects the Jiao category (hairy animals) and Yu category (feathered animals). Wind and Dryness excess and recovery manifest within. (From *Suwen: Liuyuan Zhengji Dalun*). The excess and recovery of Rain transformation and Wind transformation are identical, representing the degree of pathogenic Qi transformation. Among these, Wind transformation is three, Cold transformation is one, and Fire transformation is seven; this is the degree of normal transformation. (From *Suwen: Liuyuan Zhengji Dalun*). Wind transformation belongs to Wood and governs Heaven Qi; Bitter transformation belongs to Fire and governs Earth Qi; Xuan (Black/Dark) transformation belongs to Water and governs the Central Yun; Rou (Soft/Moist) transformation belongs to Earth and Qing (Clear/Pure) transformation belongs to Metal as interstitial Qi; Zhuo (Burning/Scorching, referring to Monarch Fire) governs the resident Qi. (Zhuo transformation is not called interstitial Qi but resident Qi, honoring that Monarch Fire resides everywhere and should not be treated as an interstitial Qi. From *Suwen: Zhiyao Dalun*). In terms of things, Mao Chong (hairy animals) remain quiet, and Yu Chong (feathered animals) breed; this is what suits the year's objects. Jie Chong (shelled animals) are depleted, and Cold Du (toxicity) does not generate; this is constrained by Earth Qi. (From *Suwen: Wuchang Zheng Dalun*). However, since the year's Qi and Heaven transformation are deficient while Earth transformation is abundant, one should nourish the Source of Transformation (by preparing in the 12th month before Da Han) to assist the Wood Qi of Heaven. Although the Source of Transformation seems weak, with Water Yun in the center, Water generates Wood, so pathogenic Qi becomes slight. One must support the Water Yun to prevent pathogenic Qi from prevailing. Treat the upper part with Pungent-Cool agents and the lower part with Salty-Cold agents. Those fearing Fire Qi should not act recklessly against it. (From *Suwen: Liuyuan Zhengji Dalun*).
Before the middle of the year, Jueyin governs. If Wind Yin prevails excessively, the vast sky becomes dusty and dim, and clouds and objects are disturbed. Cold transforms into Spring Qi, and flowing water does not freeze. (This is Wood transformation). People suffer from pain in the epigastrium at the heart's location, radiating upward to support both hypochondria, obstruction in the diaphragm and throat, difficulty swallowing food, and stiffness of the tongue root. Vomiting occurs after eating, along with cold diarrhea, abdominal distension, loose stools, mass accumulation, and fluid closure. The disease originates in the Spleen; diagnosis focuses on the Chongyang pulse of the foot. The method is to level with Pungent-Cool agents, assist with Bitter-Sweet agents, use Sweet agents to relax tension, and use Sour agents to drain excess. (From *Suwen: Zhiyao Dalun*).
After the middle of the year, Shaoyang governs. If Fire Yin overflows internally, flames illuminate the suburbs, and cold and heat alternate. People suffer from dysentery with red and white discharge, lower abdominal pain, dark urine, and in severe cases, bloody stools. The treatment uses Salty-Cold agents as the main therapy, assisted by Bitter-Pungent agents, using Sour agents to astringe and Bitter agents to vent. (From *Suwen: Zhiyao Dalun*).
The transformation of the annual Yun, due to Water deficiency, is recorded as "He Liu" (Dried Stream), which is called Reverse Yang. The storage function of the Zang organs is inactive, while the transformation Qi of the Spleen flourishes. The Long Qi (Summer growth Qi) is proclaimed, and hibernating insects do not hide. The earth is moist, springs and wells decrease, grass and trees flourish abundantly. Its Qi is stagnant, its function is seepage and drainage, its movement is hardness or stillness, its manifestation is dryness and withering, its dominance is dust and oppression with dim vision, and its diseases are Wei Bi (flaccidity syndrome), Jue Ni (cold extremities), and hardness below. (From *Suwen: Wuchang Zheng Dalun*). Its transformation combines with the Qi it cannot overcome. If the four corners exhibit transformations of rapid flow, moisture, dust, and clouds, there will be occasional responses of gentle wind and generation. If the four corners exhibit changes of dust, dimness, and sudden heavy rain, there will be occasional recoveries of drifting and shaking. The disaster occurs in the North, corresponding to the Kidney organ. The disease resides internally in the waist, spine, and marrow, and externally in the溪谷 (valleys/capillaries) and knees; all should be harmonized internally with Bitter agents. (Note: For Jueyin and Shaoyang administrations, there is no difference in the fault of mutual overcoming above and below; the treatment principle is unique, so it is not repeated that similar wind-heat cases have more cold transformations, while different wind-heat cases have fewer cold transformations. From *Suwen: Qijiao Bian Lun*).
The First Qi begins from the Si hour of Da Han in the Geng Chen year until the Mao hour of Chun Fen of this year, lasting more than sixty days. The Main Position is Shao Jiao Wood, the Guest Qi is Yangming Metal, and the central view is Water Yun. Metal overcomes Wood, and Water Yun intervenes; Cold begins to肃杀 (purge and kill), and the Killing Qi arrives. People suffer from Cold in the lower right. (From *Suwen: Liuyuan Zhengji Dalun*). It is appropriate to treat the Yangming Guest Qi, tonifying with Sour agents, draining with Pungent agents, and purging with Bitter agents. The Year Grain should be Cang (Wood), and the Inter Grain (referring to the grain of the greater interstitial Qi) should be Shu (Fire, from *Suwen: Zhiyao Dalun*).
The Second Qi begins from the Mao hour of Chun Fen until the Chou hour of Xiao Man, lasting more than sixty days. The Main Position is Tai Zheng Fire, the Guest Qi is Taiyang Water, and the central view is Water Yun. The Qi and Yun are the same; Cold does not depart, flowers appear like snow, water freezes, the Killing Qi implements transformation, frost descends, the tops of famous grasses scorch, cold rains arrive frequently, and Yang Qi recovers transformation. People suffer from Heat in the middle. It is appropriate to treat the Taiyang Guest Qi, tonifying with Bitter agents, draining with Salty agents, firming with Bitter agents, and moistening with Pungent agents. The Year Grain should be Cang, and the Inter Grain should be Ji (Earth). In this Qi, do not violate the Cold of the Si Qi.
The Third Qi begins from the Yin hour of Xiao Man until the Zi hour of Da Shu, lasting more than sixty days. The Main Position is Tai Zheng Fire, the Guest Qi is Jueyin Wood, and the central view is Water Yun. The Year Yun Water controls Fire and generates Wood, so the Heaven Administration spreads, and Wind rises on time. People suffer from tearing, tinnitus, tremors, and dizziness. It is appropriate to treat the Jueyin Guest Qi, tonifying with Pungent agents, draining with Sour agents, and relaxing with Sweet agents. The Year Grain should be Cang, and the Inter Grain should be Dao (Metal).
The Fourth Qi begins from the Zi hour of Da Shu until the Xu hour of Qiu Fen, lasting more than sixty days. The Main Position is Shao Gong Earth, the Guest Qi is Shaoyin Fire, and the central view is Water Yun. Humid heat and dampness struggle and contend in the upper left. People suffer from Jaundice accompanied by swelling. It is appropriate to treat the Shaoyin Guest Qi, tonifying with Salty agents, draining with Sweet agents, and astringing with Sour agents. The Year Grain should be Dan, and the Inter Grain should be Dou (Water).
The Fifth Qi begins from the Hai hour of Qiu Fen until the You hour of Xiao Xue, lasting more than sixty days. The Main Position is Tai Shang Metal, the Guest Qi is Taiyin Earth, and the central view is Water Yun. Earth penalizes the Yun, Dryness and Dampness alternate in victory, deep Yin spreads, Cold reaches the body, and wind and rain occur. It is appropriate to treat the Taiyin Guest Qi, tonifying with Sweet agents, draining with Bitter agents, and relaxing with Sweet agents. The Year Grain should be Dan, and the Inter Grain should be Ma (Wood).
The Final Qi begins from the You hour of Xiao Xue until the Wei hour of Da Han, lasting more than sixty days. The Main Position is Shao Yu Water, the Guest Qi is Shaoyang Fire, and the central view is Water Yun. The Year Yun obtains its position but fears the command of Fire; Yang undergoes great transformation, hibernating insects emerge, flowing water does not freeze, Earth Qi erupts, grass grows, and people feel comfortable. The diseases are Wen Bing (Warm Diseases) and Li Qi (Plague Qi). It is appropriate to treat the Shaoyang Guest Qi, tonifying with Salty agents, draining with Sweet agents, and softening hardness with Salty agents. The Year Grain should be Dan, and the Inter Grain should be Dou (Water).
This is the transformation of the Six Qi. At the intersection of Year Qi, if Heaven Qi prevails, there will be a recovery of Yangming; if Earth Qi prevails, there will be a recovery of Taiyang. Observe their excess and recovery, and treat each with its respective method.
