Treats Wind-Cold invading the Stomach, causing deviation of the mouth and eye (Kou Yan Xie), aversion to wind and cold, stiffness and spasm of the four limbs, with a floating and tight pulse.
Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Gegen (Puerariae Radix), Qinjiao (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae) [1 liang each], Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae) [1 liang each], Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) [1 liang each], Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra or Alba), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Guizhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi), Congbai (Sclerium Allii Cepae).
The above ten ingredients are decocted in water and taken orally.
Li Shicai stated: The virtue of Kun Yuan (Earth/Primal Matter) is profound; it serves as the master of the five Zang organs. If Wood energy becomes excessive and Wind pathogen overflows, the "Official of Granaries" (Spleen/Stomach) will be subjected to control. Since the Spleen governs the four limbs, flaccidity (Wei Bi) occurs.
Guizhi consolidates the Wei Qi (Defensive Qi); Shaoyao and Qinjiao harmonize the Ying Blood (Nutritive Blood); Fangfeng acts like a low-ranking soldier following orders; Congbai is necessary for inducing sweating, reaching every minute detail; aided by Gancao to harmonize them, how could the pathogen fail to dissipate?
Treats excessive Fire in the Upper Jiao, resulting in severe swelling of the head and face, red and swollen painful eyes, intense heat in the chest, heart, throat, mouth, tongue, nose, and ears, as well as sores and toxins.
Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (equal parts).
Decoct in water and take after meals.
Ke Yunbo stated: All swellings, fullness, and pain belong to Heart Fire; one must use Huangqin and Huanglian to drain the Heart. However, when Cold-Heat complex binds internally causing epigastric fullness... this involves... soaking... clearing... and Fire... Huangqin and Huanglian...
(From *Jisheng Fang*)
Treats injury from the Seven Emotions, leading to panting and急促 breathing (Shang Chuan Ji), restlessness, and loss of appetite.
Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Chenxiang (Aquilaria Lignum Resinatum), Tiantai Wuyao (Fructus Linderae).
The above four ingredients are separately ground thickly to obtain 70% juice, boiled for three to five boils, cooled to warm temperature, and taken on an empty stomach. Taking Yangzheng Dan is especially excellent.
Wang Youyuan stated: The Classics say: A sage cherishes Qi as if holding a supreme treasure; a mediocre person enslaves themselves to material things, thereby harming the Great Harmony. These Seven Emotions, triggered by external stimuli, can all become diseases... should be drained... Yin... must be excessive... thereby... Qi...急促.
Treats diarrhea caused by Yangming Exterior Heat, and also treats the initial eruption of smallpox/varioloid (Dou Zhen).
Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Gegen (Puerariae Radix), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (roasted).
The above four ingredients are decocted in water and taken orally.
Ke Yunbo stated: This is a formula for resolving the exterior and harmonizing the interior at the initial stage of Yangming disease. It can be used to scatter exterior heat and also to treat interior deficiency, achieving both effects with one prescription... arises... this is Yang... Ge... sweat... Cheng... downward method... Gen... Gancao relieves urgency and harmonizes the interior, so the diarrhea stopping is evident. Using exterior-resolving herbs to treat interior conditions is because the diarrhea results from exterior excess, not interior excess. Dou Zhen emerges from the interior to the exterior, originating from Shaoyin and erupting from Taiyang. In the initial stage, both interior and exterior are hot, so cooling and dispersing methods are appropriate.
