Musk (Moschus), Toad Venom (Bufonis Venenum), Realgar (Realgar), Mother Clove (Caryophylli Flos), Cinnabar (Cinnabaris) (each 5 qian), True Atractylodes Rhizome (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (1 liang, soaked thoroughly in rice washing water, sliced, peeled, cleaned, and ground into fine powder).
The above ingredients are suitable for preparation on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Alternatively, auspicious days such as Tiande (Heavenly Virtue), Yuede (Monthly Virtue), Tianyi (Heavenly Physician), or Huangdao (Yellow Path) may be selected for compounding. Each herb is taken as a pure fine powder. Genuine wheat spirit (Baijiu) is used.
One treatment for various acute Sha syndrome (acute sand disease): Use 7 pills; for mild cases, use 5 pills. Take with Ginger Decoction.
One treatment for Stomachache: Use 4 to 5 pills.
One treatment for Yin Syndrome in men and women (deficiency-cold severe condition caused by direct invasion of cold pathogen): Use 21 pills.
One treatment for Shanghan Shiqi (Cold Damage and Seasonal Epidemic Qi): Use 7 pills.
One treatment for Abdominal Pain: Use 7 pills. (All of the above should be taken with Ginger Decoction.)
One treatment for Hou Bi (Throat Bi - swelling and obstruction of the throat): Use 5 pills. If not cured, take another 5 pills.
One treatment for Hou Feng (Throat Wind - redness, swelling, pain of the throat accompanied by difficulty in breathing): Use 5 pills. If not cured, take another 5 pills. (All of the above should be taken with Mint Decoction.)
One treatment for pediatric Ji Man Jing Feng (Pediatric Acute and Chronic Convulsion): One pill per year of age. Take with light Ginger Decoction mixed well.
Agastis Leaf (Huo Xiang Ye), Perilla Leaf (Su Ye) (each 6 liang), Magnolia Bark (Nou Pu), Aurantium Fruit (Zhi Ke) (each 3 liang), Costus Root (Mu Xiang) (ground separately into fine powder), Raw Licorice Root (Sheng Gan Cao), Sandalwood (Tan Xiang) (each ground into fine powder). Honey is refined to form pills, coated with Cinnabar. Each pill weighs 2 qian. Adults take one pill; children take half a pill.
One treatment for Heatstroke: Adults use Tangerine Peel (Chen Pi) and Artemisia Annua Herb (Qing Hao), each 8 fen; children use each 5 fen. Decoct in water, dissolve the pill, and take.
One treatment for Huoluan Tu Xie Zhuan Jin (Huoluan with vomiting, diarrhea, and muscle cramps): Use boiling water mixed with fresh well water in equal parts, dissolve the pill, and take.
One treatment for Cold-induced Headache and Fever: Use 3 slices of ginger with skin, decoct in water, dissolve the pill, and take.
One treatment for Epigastric Fullness and Vomiting: Use 3 slices of ginger with skin, decoct in water, dissolve the pill, and take.
One treatment for Dysentery and Diarrhea: Dissolve in boiled water and take warm. (The water should be slightly warm; if too hot, it will be ineffective.)
One treatment for all types of Malaria, regardless of whether recent or long-standing: Use a 1-cun branch of peach wood facing east, and 3 slices of ginger with skin. Decoct in water, dissolve the pill, and take.
One treatment for poor appetite and reduced food intake: Dissolve in boiled water and take.
One treatment for Four Seasons Plague: In spring and winter, use one slice of ginger; in summer and autumn, use 1 qian of Black Soybean and 5 fen of Licorice Root. Decoct in water, dissolve the pill, and take.
