Tongue retraction and scrotal contraction, sweating like oil in pearls, aphonia with choking on food.
Hematemesis accompanied by throat lichen (a chronic ulcerative disease), voice rough like sawing wood, blackened nostrils, and cyanotic lips.
Thready pulse, cool body, opisthotonos (spastic rigidity of the back muscles causing the body to arch backward like a bow), and ten fingers lacking blood color.
Dry throat without phlegm, deep and thready pulses in all six positions, constipation for ten days.
Collapse of the Tianzhu bone (inability to support the head due to neck weakness), fixed gaze, and phlegm obstructing the airway.
Throat fungus (fungus-like growths in the throat) is incurable.
Zouma Houfeng (acute onset throat wind disorder), Suohou Feng (throat swelling and blockage throat wind disorder), Zouma Yagan (acute onset gum rot disorder), Chanhou Feng (swelling and winding throat wind disorder).
(These four syndromes are all perilous conditions. If there is no vomiting, no diarrhea, no bleeding upon acupuncture, and inability to ingest medicine, they are all considered incurable. Physicians must exercise extreme caution!)
Right hand pulse: Lung pulse is floating, choppy, and short; Spleen pulse is moderate, scattered, and large; Mingmen pulse is moderate and leisurely.
For the three positions (Cun, Guan, Chi) of the pulse, four beats per respiration cycle indicate a normal, healthy pulse. Deviation from this indicates disease. A slow pulse indicates cold; a rapid pulse indicates heat; a thready and moderate pulse indicates deficiency-cold; a thready and rapid pulse indicates deficiency-heat.
(Right hand three positions: Cun corresponds to the Lung and Large Intestine; Guan corresponds to the Spleen and Stomach; Chi corresponds to Mingmen and Sanjiao.)
Left hand pulse: Heart pulse is leisurely, moderate, and scattered; Liver pulse is deep, wiry, and long; Kidney pulse is deficient and thready. (In women, the Chi pulse should be larger. Four beats per respiration cycle indicate a normal, healthy pulse; deviation indicates disease.) The judgment criteria for pathological pulses are the same as above.
(Left hand three positions: Cun corresponds to the Heart and Small Intestine; Guan corresponds to the Liver and Gallbladder; Chi corresponds to the Kidney and Bladder.)

(Formula No. 9)
General Formula for Treating Seventy-Two Throat Syndromes — Liuwei Tang (Six-Ingredient Decoction) (Treats all throat disorders, whether red or white; one dose at the initial stage can cure it.)
Jingjie Sui (Schizonepeta Spike, 3 qian) Bohe (Mentha Haplocalyx, 3 qian, preferably cut twice and aromatic) Chao Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, fried, 2 qian) Jiegeng (Platycodon Root, 2 qian) Sheng Fangcao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw, 2 qian) Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 2 qian)
Grind all the above herbs into powder, decoct several times, remove the dregs, keep warm, and gargle continuously, swallowing slowly. Do not drink it all in one large gulp. If the decoction method or administration method is incorrect, efficacy will be difficult to achieve. One must strictly follow this procedure. In emergencies, steeping in boiling water is also acceptable. (This is a general formula; other herbs should be added or subtracted based on specific symptom names for detailed clinical application.)
Xionghuang Tuizhong Xiaotan Yao (Realgar Swelling-Reducing and Phlegm-Resolving Powder) (For initial stages where wind-phlegm rises and obstructs, insufflation leads to immediate reduction.)
Yinxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 1 liang 2 qian, processed by water flotation) Xuanmingfen (Mirabilitum, 2 qian) Bai Pengsha (Borax, 2 qian) Xionghuang (Realgar, 8 qian, select high-quality, bright red, large chunks)
Grind all the above into fine powder for insufflation. If there are wounds or ulcerated patches, it may cause excessive pain, so use with caution.
Jinbuhuan Chuanyao (Jinbuhuan Insufflation Powder) (Excellent for treating fire-toxic syndromes, acne-related gangrene, dental gangrene, and throat ulcers.)
Renzhongbai (Calcinis Dentium Humanum, 5 qian, preserved nature) Xi Baimo (Cupressi Cacumen powder, 3 qian) Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, 6 qian) Xuanmingfen (Mirabilitum, 3 qian) Bai Pengsha (Borax, 3 qian) Xiguaxiao (Watermelon Saltpeter, 8 qian, preparation method follows later) Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum, 3 fen)

Grind all together into powder. If phlegm is abundant, take 5 qian of raw Dahuang soaked in water to send down the medicine. Alternatively, sending it down with Liuwei Tang liquid is also effective; Danjiang Tang (Light Ginger Decoction) is also excellent.

Patients must take this pill with Tubalingfu decoction, and consume the rest as tea. When toxic qi accumulates along the meridians, even the uvula in the throat may form nodules. Therefore, those treating throat diseases must know this formula.)
Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, 5 liang, roasted until charred, soaked in wine浆, roasted again, repeated roasting, coated with wine three times, until dark yellow. Grind into fine powder, net weight 2 liang.
