After taking medicine, vomiting continues incessantly; after seven days, the white membrane covering the mouth does not recede; after taking medicine, there is no bowel movement, but when not taking medicine, diarrhea occurs; continuous unceasing diarrhea; swelling below the jaw does not subside; hoarseness progressing to aphonia (loss of voice); white plaques falling off spontaneously; dry throat without saliva; dark complexion in the forehead area (Tianting); eyes staring straight ahead; face and lips turning cyanotic; opisthotonos (arching of the back like a bow); phlegm obstruction causing panting; sweating like oil; coldness of hands and feet; trismus (lockjaw) preventing opening; inability to swallow medicine.
Xionghuang Jiedu Wan (Realgar Detoxification Pill)
Ming Xionghuang (Realgar, 2 qian), Yujin (Curcuma Aromatica Rhizome, 1 qian), Badou Rou (Croton Seed Kernel, 3 fen). Grind into fine powder, boil with vinegar to make a paste, form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 4 pills each time, swallowed with warm water; reduce dose for children. I use this formula, typically administering 4 to 6 pills for adults. This formula targets Chanhou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind) and Zouma Baihou (Running Horse White Throat), which are acute and critical conditions. Delayed treatment leads to danger. Ming Xionghuang breaks stagnation and removes damp-toxin; Yujin disperses bad blood; Badou breaches barriers and expels bad salivary secretions. Once swallowed, recovery is assured. However, this is a harsh preparation, used only out of necessity for malignant conditions. It should not be used lightly unless it is an acute condition.
Longhu Erxian Tang (Dragon and Tiger Two Immortals Decoction)
Applicable for extremely severe cases of Baihou Feng (White Throat Wind).
Longdan Cao (Gentiana Root, 2 qian), Shengdi (Rehmannia Root, 1 liang), Yuan Shen (Scrophularia Root, 4 qian), Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn, 4 qian), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 5 qian), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, 3 qian), Sheng Shigao (Raw Gypsum Fibrosum, 1 liang), Sheng Zhizi (Gardenia Fruit, 3 qian), Niubangzi (Arctium Fruit, 4 qian), Mabo (Lycoperdon, 4 qian), Sheng Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, 5 qian), Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome, 4 qian), Banlangen (Isatis Root, 4 qian), Mutong (Akebia Stem, 4 qian), Jingmi (Oryza Sativa Grain, 3 liang), Da Qingcai (Large Green Vegetable, 5 qian). In earlier years, an epidemic throat disease known locally as "Wild Wolf Neck" spread in the capital, causing many deaths, and other formulas were ineffective. After obtaining this formula, many lives were saved, making it a truly life-saving remedy.
Kaiguan San (Gate-Opening Powder)
Fan Mubie (Strychnos Nux-vomica Seed, 1 piece). Grind in rice vinegar at the bottom of a bowl to make a thick juice. Dip a brush in the juice and apply to both sides of the gums until the end. The jaw will gradually open. It can also be applied to the ceiling and under the root of the tongue to induce opening. Avoid contact with throat saliva; if saliva flows out, rinse with lukewarm water. For trismus (lockjaw), use this method.
Xuexie Peng San (Dragon's Blood and Borax Powder)

Guashuang San (Watermelon Frost Powder)
For frequent insufflation in Baihou Feng (White Throat Wind), Dan Shuang E (Single/Double Tonsillar Swelling), and Fenghuo Houzheng (Wind-Fire Throat Conditions).
Xiguashuang (Watermelon Frost, 1 liang), Chen Sha (Cinnabar, 2 qian), Bingpian (Borneol, 1 qian), Renzhongbai (Human Waste Ash, 1 qian), Xiongjing (Realgar Essence, 2 fen). Grind into fine powder. Cut a hole in a watermelon, remove all pulp, insert Pi Xiao (Niter), hang in a ventilated place, and place a porcelain plate underneath to catch dripping water. When ice crystals form on the plate and frost forms on the melon, scrape it down for use. According to "Houke Zhizhang," scraping the frost, putting it back into the watermelon for a second process increases potency.
Shiqing San (Stone Blue Powder)
Sheng Shigao (Raw Gypsum Fibrosum, 1 liang), Renzhongbai (Human Waste Ash, 5 qian), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, 1 liang), Chen Sha (Cinnabar, 1 liang), Yueshi (Alum Stone, 1 liang), Danfan (Chalcanthite, 5 qian), Yuanmingfen (Mirabilite, 5 qian), Shandougen (Sophora Tonkinensis Root, 3 qian), Bingpian (Borneol, 5 fen). Grind into fine powder, insufflate 3-5 times daily.
Youyan Bidu San (House Centipede Poison-Repelling Powder)
Youyan (House Centipede, 1 strip), Yanmei (Salted Plum, 2 pieces). Scrape the flesh of the salted plums, mix with the centipede. After a short while, it liquefies. Dry and store. For various throat conditions, take a small piece, hold in the mouth, spit out saliva first, then swallow. Or, add a little water, grind into a paste, dip a brush, and apply to white putrid swollen areas to reduce swelling.
Zhizhu Jiuku Dan (Spider Suffering-Relieving Pill)
Zhizhu (Spider, 3 pieces), Bingpian (Borneol, 5 li). Earth spiders found in ditches or on soil surfaces with webs dragged out, hiding in web nests, small and black in color. Bake dry, mix with Borneol, and grind finely. Insufflate for critical cases; highly effective, capable of restoring life from death.
Danfan San (Chalcanthite Powder)
Danfan (Chalcanthite, 1 qian), Shouzhi Jia (Finger Nail, 5 fen), Renzhongbai (Human Waste Ash, 5 fen). Fake Chalcanthite cannot resolve tonsillar swelling or transform phlegm. Fry finger nails until yellow, grind together into fine powder. Insufflate onto swollen tonsils several times to rupture and expel bad blood and phlegm.
Sha San (Arsenic Powder)
Sha (Arsenic Compound, 2 fen), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, 2 fen), Baifan (Alumen, 2 fen). Grind into fine powder, insufflate onto swollen painful tonsils to rupture immediately. Genuine arsenic is hard to obtain; Danfan San is easier to prepare and has comparable efficacy.
Suanni Badu San (Garlic Mud Toxin-Extracting Powder)
Lao Suan (Old Garlic, 1 slice), mash into paste. Apply a bean-sized amount to Jingqu Acupoint (located behind the radial pulse at the wrist crease when the thumb is extended; left side for men, right for women). A blister will form. Puncture it, wipe clean the toxic fluid. Extremely effective. Do not neglect it because the medicine is simple.
Jiuji Yigong San (Emergency Extraordinary Merit Powder)
Xuexie (Dragon's Blood, 6 fen), Ruxiang (Frankincense, 6 fen, de-oiled), Banmao (Blister Beetle, 4 qian), Quanxie (Scorpion, 6 fen), Bingpian (Borneol, 3 fen), Moyao (Myrrh, 3 fen, de-oiled), Yuan Shen (Scrophularia Root, 6 fen), Shexiang (Musk, 3 fen). Remove head, wings, and legs of Banmao, stir-fry with glutinous rice until yellow, discard rice, grind into fine powder. For critical throat conditions with diffuse internal and external swelling and impending airway closure, place a bean-sized amount on a small plaster. Apply to the soft area half a cun below the earlobe. Apply to the left for left swelling, right for right, both for bilateral swelling. After 5-6 hours, a blister forms. Puncture with a needle, drain fluid, wipe clean toxic fluid. Reduces swelling and relieves pain.
Qingxin Di Fei Tang (Clear Heart Purify Lung Decoction)
Used when white putrid membranes in the throat have cleared and fire-toxin moves downward; use cooling herbs to eliminate residual toxin.

Decoct and take 3-4 doses.
Yangzheng Tang (Nourish Righteousness Decoction)
