It is stated that wind-stroke with fever manifests as absence of sweating on the body, vexatious pain in the limbs and joints, abdominal urgency, and difficulty in urination and defecation. This is because the pathogenic Wind factor lodges within, causing the skin and pores to become closed and dense, leading to dryness inside.

For treating wind-stroke with fever, absence of sweating, vexatious pain in the limbs and joints, internal abdominal urgent pain, and constipation with difficult urination and defecation, use Fangfeng Yin (Wind-Protecting Drink):
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, forked parts removed), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, sliced and dried), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, roots and joints removed, decocted first, scum skimmed off, then dried), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Chifuling (Poria cum Ligno, black skin removed), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, cracked, processed, skin and umbilicus removed), Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed, each 1 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, crushed and stir-fried, each 3 qian).
The above twelve ingredients are crushed like hemp seeds. Each dose consists of 5 qianbi (approx. 5-7 grams depending on era measurement), added with 1.5 sheng (approx. 200-300 ml) of water, 2 dates split open, and 0.5 fen (approx. 1-2 grams) of sliced fresh ginger. Decoct until reduced to 8/10 volume, strain, and take warm. Take once on an empty stomach in the morning and once in the evening.

The above seven ingredients are coarsely pounded and sieved. Each dose consists of 5 qianbi, added with 1.5 sheng of water. Decoct until reduced to 8/10 volume, strain, and take warm on an empty stomach, twice daily. If there is trismus, cold numbness of the jaw, or a stiff tongue, add one Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), peeled and de-umbilicated, along with a small amount of Zhuli (Bambusae Succus). If thirsty, add 1.5 liang of Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, note: original says Maidong but lists Xuan Shen parameters? No, original says Maidong Qu Xin 1.5 liang, Xi Jiao 1 liang. Correcting: Add 1.5 liang of Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed) and 1 liang of Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, note: modern substitutes often used, but term is Xi Jiao) powder.

The above four ingredients are coarsely pounded and sieved. Each dose consists of 3 qianbi, added with 1 sheng of water. Decoct until reduced to 7/10 volume, strain, and take hot after meals.
