Discussion states: Shi Ying (Lithoid Goiter), Ni Ying (Muddy Goiter), Lao Ying (Fatigue Goiter), You Ying (Worry Goiter), and Qi Ying (Qi Stagnation Goiter) are collectively known as the "Five Yings" (Five Types of Goiter). Shi Ying and Ni Ying arise from drinking mountain water or improper diet. You Ying, Lao Ying, and Qi Ying originate from the Seven Emotions (Joy, Anger, Worry, Thought, Sorrow, Fear, Fright). Wherever emotions reach, Qi follows; it may ascend without descending, or knot together without dispersing. This constitutes the pathogenesis.
