Commentary states: The *Neijing* (Inner Canon) mentions that when pathogenic wind arrives, it is as swift as wind and rain. This describes the rapidity of pathogenic invasion. Individuals suffering from sudden stroke do so because of disharmony between Yin and Yang, long-standing deficiency of the Zang-Fu organs, weakness of Qi and Blood, and exhaustion of Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive). Therefore, the toxic evil of wind easily takes advantage of this vulnerability to enter, suddenly causing collapse, confusion, slurred speech, and obstruction by phlegm-saliva.
