Commentary: Whenever the head is struck by an object, resulting in brain injury and extrusion of cerebrospinal fluid (brain marrow), treatment should be prompt. The head is the convergence point of all Yang meridians, and the fontanelle is where life's vital energy resides. If the brain is ruptured and marrow flows out, delaying rescue will lead to immediate death. Therefore, one should immediately apply medicine to cover the wound, preventing invasion by external pathogens, nourish Ying and Wei Qi, and stabilize the spirit; only then might survival be possible. If symptoms include upward rolling of the eyes, fixed gaze, and inability to speak, it is considered incurable.
For head trauma with brain rupture and marrow extrusion, coma, and suffocation, but with a faint heartbeat remaining: Formula for灌ing Piglet Blood.
Piglet blood (one he). If piglet blood is unavailable, regular pig blood may be used.
Take the above single ingredient, use a small amount, and灌 into the brain cavity. The patient will awaken immediately.
For brain rupture and marrow extrusion, approaching death: Formula for ingesting Mercury.
Mercury (two qian).
Take the above single ingredient, ingest approximately one qian each time. The patient will revive immediately. If there is no improvement after a short while, administer again.
For head trauma with brain rupture and marrow extrusion, accompanied by wind-stroke and locked jaw (trismus): Formula for soaking Soybeans in Wine.
Soybeans (one dou).
Crush the above single ingredient, place it on a steamer, and steam it. While hot, pour one dou of wine over it. Drink one zhan per dose, continue for three to five doses, until sweating occurs, which indicates efficacy.
Commentary: Fractures and injuries vary in severity, depth, and chronicity. Treatment methods differ between internal administration, soaking/washing, and moxibustion/poultice application. One must carefully assess the nature of the injury to treat it appropriately, eliminating toxins and dissipating stagnation, promoting muscle growth in an orderly manner, avoiding errors. This clarifies the principles of treating fractures and injuries.
For fractures and soft tissue injuries involving tendons and bones, using soaking/washing method: Guizhi Fuzi San Formula.
Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, remove coarse bark), Fuzii (Aconite Root, raw, remove skin and umbilicus), Baifan (Alum), Xixin (Asarum, remove stems and leaves), Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica, each one liang), Wujia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex, chopped), Sangzhi (Mulberry Twig, appropriate amount).
Grind the above seven ingredients into a powder. For each dose, use three liang, add ten stalks of scallions with roots, boil in one dou of water. Immediately soak or wash the affected area. Efficacy is seen immediately.
For traumatic contusions with stagnant blood not dispersing: Yuanhua Coarse Powder Moxibustion Formula.
Yuanhua (Genkwa Flos), Yuancansha (Bombyx Batryticatus, each three liang), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, two jin), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, four liang), Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, remove seeds and closed ones), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, appropriate amount [text fragment]).
(Note: Text states "ten ingredients" but lists fewer due to apparent textual loss. Translating visible ingredients.)
Finely chop and coarsely crush the above ingredients. Mix with vinegar and stir-fry until hot. Wrap in a blue cloth and apply as a hot compress to the injured area. Efficacy is seen immediately.
For traumatic pain, using soaking/washing method: Xionglaotang Formula.

(Note: Text states "nine ingredients".)
Coarsely crush and sieve the above ingredients. Use three liang of the mixture per dose, boil in one dou of water. Soak or wash the painful area. Efficacy is seen immediately.
For fractures, bone setting: Lingli Jia Poultice Ointment Formula.
Linglijia (Manis Pentadactyla Scale, coated with vinegar and roasted, three liang), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, remove coarse bark), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, sliced and dried, each one liang), Shengdihuang Zhi (Rehmanniae Radix Juice), Mian (Wheat Flour, one spoon), Fuzi (Aconite Root, appropriate amount [text fragment]).
(Note: Text states "seven ingredients".)
Except for the juices, grind the remaining ingredients finely through a fine sieve to make a powder. Warm the Rehmannia and ginger juice, mix with five qianbi of the powder until uniform. Spread on silk fabric, apply warm to the fracture site, bind tightly, and change once daily.
