Commentary states: Blood stasis arises from the accumulation of menstrual blood or the incomplete discharge of lochia after childbirth. The root cause lies in the deficiency of Qi in the Chong and Ren meridians (primary meridians regulating menstruation and reproduction), which are invaded by Wind-Cold pathogens. This prevents the smooth flow of Qi, leading to blood stasis. If the blood stasis is not resolved, it condenses into stubborn masses, causing sallow complexion, emaciation, restlessness, thirst, aversion to cold, heaviness and pain in the lower back and abdomen. Over time, this may evolve into Zheng Jia (abdominal masses).
