Commentary states: The *Jia Yi Jing* (Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion) discusses scrofula (lymph node tuberculosis) with chills and fever, referring to the toxic qi of rat-like scrofula. This toxicity remains in the meridians without dispersing, attacking upwards between the neck and axilla. Wind-heat toxic qi contends with Qi and Blood, leading to disharmony of Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) levels, thus causing scrofula accompanied by chills and fever.
