Commentary states: The Lung is located above the diaphragm and serves as a cover for the other four zang organs. If nourishment and care involve excessive warmth, or if there is overindulgence in the five pungent spices (scallion, garlic, leek, allium victorialis, and cyperus), heat qi binds internally, causing congestion and heat in the Lung meridian. This leads to symptoms such as dry throat and tongue, vexation and heat in the chest and diaphragm, coughing with chest oppression, and sores inside the nose. These constitute the syndrome of Lung congestion-heat.
