Discussion: The Spleen and Stomach are exteriorly-interiorly related, jointly responsible for the digestion and transformation of food and fluids. Currently, due to deficiency of Qi in the Spleen and Stomach, food and fluids fail to be properly digested. The retained fluid clashes with the undigested food, causing empty distension in the Stomach. The Qi rebels upward, resulting in food being vomited after a long stay in the stomach; hence it is named "Wei Fan" (Stomantic Reflux/Regurgitation). Its manifestations include vomiting morning food in the evening or evening food in the morning, alternating chills and fever, epigastric fullness and obstruction feeling as if an inverted cup were placed there.
To treat Wei Fan with incessant vomiting, discomfort in the heart and diaphragm, and reduced appetite, use Shengjiang San (Fresh Ginger Powder):
Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, sliced and stir-fried, 3 liang), Peng E Zhu (Curcumae Phaeocaulis Rhizoma, crushed and stir-fried, 1 liang), Chen Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, soaked in hot water, white pith removed, stir-fried), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, crushed and stir-fried, each 2 liang).
The above four ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Each dose is 1 qian bi (approx. 3-5g), taken with a little salt, mixed with boiling water.
To treat Wei Fan where food is vomited immediately after eating, use Ren Shen Tang (Ginseng Decoction):
Ren Shen (Panacis Ginseng Radix), Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, outer bark removed, each 2 liang), Chen Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, soaked in hot water, white pith removed, sliced and stir-fried), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed, each 1 liang), Chi Fu Ling (Poria Cocos with Red Skin, dosage missing in text but implied).
(Note: Text mentions "nine ingredients" but lists fewer explicitly or has formatting errors. Based on visible text:) The above ingredients are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose is 5 qian bi, decocted in 2 zhan (approx. 400ml) of water until 1 zhan remains. Strain and take warm, three times daily and once at night.
To treat Fan Wei (regurgitation) and vomiting, rebellious Qi attacking upwards, heart pain and abdominal pain, frequent vomiting of sour fluid, use Huoxiang Wan (Agastache Pill):
Huo Xiang Ye (Pogostemonis Herba), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, each 1.5 liang), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed in hot water to remove slipperiness, 2 liang), Ding Xiang (Caryophylli Flos), Bing Lang (Arecae Semen, crushed, each 3 fen), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 1 liang), Bi Cheng (Bibeng/Bicheng - likely Bibeng Cao/Piperis Kadsurae Fructus, text truncated).
The above eight ingredients are pounded, sifted into fine powder. Mixed with paste made from boiled flour and wine, formed into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Each dose is 20 pills, taken with Chen Pi Tang (Tangerine Peel Decoction), at any time.
To treat Wei Fan with nausea, unable even to keep down porridge medicine, use Zhen Pi San (Spleen-Calming Powder):
Jing San Leng (Bupleuri Radix? No, San Leng is Cyperi Rhizoma, specifically Jing San Leng/Cyperi Rhizoma, processed, 1.5 liang), Ding Xiang (Caryophylli Flos, 3 fen).
The above two ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Each dose is 1 qian bi, taken with boiling water, at any time.
To treat Fan Wei regurgitation persisting for a long time, with dry constipation in the Large Intestine, use Dansha Wan (Cinnabar Pill):
Dan Sha (Cinnabaris), Qian Dan (Minii Preparatum, both ground), Chen Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, white pith removed, stir-fried, each half liang), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed in hot water seven times to remove slipperiness, dried), Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, outer bark removed, processed with ginger juice), Mai Fu (Wheat Bran, stir-fried), Chen Qu (Fermented Wheat, dried), Dai Zhe Shi (Haematitum, each 1 liang), Zao Jiao Chan (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus, skin and seeds removed, processed, half liang).
The above nine ingredients are pounded, ground, and mixed evenly. Formed into pills with thin paste, size of paulownia seeds. Each dose is 20 pills, taken with warm wine (or rice drink) on an empty stomach, at noon, and before sleep.
To treat Wei Fan with vomiting and hiccups, use Qian Dan Wan (Lead Oxide Pill):
Hei Qian (Plumbum/Native Lead, processed by melting into paper ash and grinding with willow wood pestle into fine powder, 1 liang).
(Note: Text implies two ingredients but only details Hei Qian. Context suggests reaction with Qian Dan or similar.)
The above ingredients are ground extremely fine. Added to 1 sheng (approx. 200ml) of rice vinegar, cooked in a clay pot into a paste. A small amount of steamed biscuit is added, pounded until smooth, and formed into pills the size of adzuki beans. Each dose is 10 pills, taken with Sheng Jiang Tang (Fresh Ginger Decoction) or rice drink, at any time.
To treat Wei Fan where food cannot be retained, to open the stomach and harmonize Qi, use Mu Xiang Tang (Aucklandia Decoction):
Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, crushed, 1 fen), Hu Jiao (Piperis Longi Fructus, 21 grains), Nuo Mi (Oryza Sativa Var. Glutinosa, a pinch).
The above three ingredients are stir-fried together until the rice is cooked, coarsely crushed and sieved. Divided into five doses. Each dose is decocted in 1 zhan of water until 6 fen remains. Strain and take warm.
To treat Wei Fan and Ge Qi (diaphragmatic qi stagnation) preventing food intake, use Cang Zhu Tang (Atractylodis Rhizoma Decoction):
Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, prepared by moistening slightly with water at dusk, visualizing sunlight entering the rice, drying in the sun, and storing in a paper bag in a ventilated place).
One dose of the herb is decocted in water when needed, and the liquid drunk, which promptly promotes bowel movement.
To treat Wei Fan where food cannot go down, use Mu Xiang Tang (Aucklandia Decoction):
Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, crushed, half liang), Hu Jiao (Piperis Longi Fructus, 1 fen), Gao Liang Jiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, crushed and stir-fried, 1 fen), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 1 liang), Peng E Zhu (Curcumae Phaeocaulis Rhizoma, processed, 2 liang).
The above five ingredients are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose is 3 qian bi, decocted in 1 zhan of water until 7 fen remains. Strain and take warm before meals.
To treat Wei Fan with vomiting of sour fluid and chest oppression, use Bibo Wan (Piperis Kadsurae Pill):
Bi Bo (Piperis Kadsurae Fructus), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus, pulp removed, bran-fried), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, crushed and stir-fried), Bing Lang (Arecae Semen, crushed, each half liang), Suo Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), He Le Le (Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus, roasted).
(Note: Text lists 8 items but claims 10. Assuming standard composition.)
The above ten ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Mixed with refined honey into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Each dose is 20 pills, taken with Sheng Jiang Tang (Fresh Ginger Decoction).
To treat chronic Wei Fan not stopping, use ShiTing Zhi Wan (Lithargyrum Pill):
Shi Ting Zhi (Lithargyrum/Red Lead oxide?), Zi Bei Qian (Prepared Lead), Yan Lu (Brine/Salt solution, 5 liang).
The above three ingredients: Lead is melted and quenched in brine until dry. The lead and Shi Ting Zhi are mixed and stir-fried. If flames rise, cover with a lid to extinguish. Once evenly cooked, mix with water-soaked steamed dough to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Each dose is 20 pills, taken with a decoction of Shi Lian (Nelumbinis Nuciferae Semen), Gan Zao (Jujubae Fructus), Gan Shi (Dried Persimmon), and Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma).
To treat Stomach deficiency with rebellious Qi, food regurgitating after eating, use Fan Dan Wan (Alum-Cinnabar Pill):
Bai Fan (Alumen), Qian Dan (Minii Preparatum, 2 liang), Shi Ting Zhi (Lithargyrum, half liang, raw, ground separately and added later).
First, grind Bai Fan and Qian Dan together, place in a crucible, and heat with charcoal until red hot. Reduce fire and let rest overnight. Take out, grind finely, and leave for two days to reduce toxicity. Then add Shi Ting Zhi, grind finely, and mix with millet rice paste to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 15 pills daily with rice drink.
To treat Stomach deficiency distension with rebellious Qi and food regurgitation, use Fan Shi Wan (Alum Stone Pill):
Bai Fan (Alumen, 3 liang, calcined until liquid evaporates).
Grind finely like flour. Mix with mashed rice to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 15 pills daily on an empty stomach with rice drink.
To treat long-standing Fan Wei and various vomiting in children due to fright, use Tian Ji San/Wan (Tianji Powder/Pill):
Liu Huang (Sulfur, finely ground, half liang), Shui Yin (Hydrargyrum/Mercury, 1 fen, ground with sulfur until no shiny particles remain).
The above two ingredients are ground together until black like coal. Each dose is 3 qian bi. Extract juice from 4 liang of Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger), mix with 1 zhan of wine, cook together, and mix with the medicine. Take on an empty stomach, cover with blankets. Sweat should start from the toes and spread over the body. When sweat is thorough, the disease cures. Case report: A patient with Fan Wei for 3 years, emaciated, sweated a sticky, foul substance after one dose, stopped vomiting that day, and cured. For children's vomiting, adjust dose (1 qian bi to 1 zi) based on age, mix with cold water. This powder is very light; mix with a little water first, grind slowly with finger, then add liquid. Do not pour directly into liquid as it floats. Other formulas like Wu Tou Zhu San and Zhu Yu San also treat Fan Wei, but Tian Ji San balances Yin and Yang better. Their properties are hot, so use according to organ cold/heat.
To treat Stomach Qi deficiency and cold, inability to eat, vomiting sour fluid immediately after eating, use Zhu Yu San (Evodia Powder):
Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus, washed in hot water seven times, stir-fried dry), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed).
Equal parts, pounded, sifted into powder. Take 3 qian bi on an empty stomach with hot wine.
To treat Wei Fan, use Wu Tou Zhu San (Aconite Boiled Powder):
Wu Tou (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, skin and umbilicus removed, 3 liang), Lian Shi (Meliae Fructus, 1.5 liang), Bing Lang (Arecae Semen, crushed), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, each 1 liang).
The above four ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Each dose is 2 qian bi, decocted in 1 zhan of water until 7 fen remains. Add a pinch of salt, take warm.
To treat failure of Yin and Yang Qi to ascend and descend, Pi Qi and Ge Qi, heart and abdominal pain, throat obstruction, uneven airway, vomiting phlegm foam, inability to eat, irregular bowel movements (constipation or diarrhea), tenesmus, unbearable lower abdominal pain, this formula nourishes Qi, resolves phlegm, warms the middle, disperses stagnation, and moderates Qi, use Huan Qi Wan (Moderating Qi Pill):
Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, half liang), Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, outer bark removed, 2 liang), Ren Shen (Panacis Ginseng Radix, 2 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 2 liang), Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus, stir-fried, 2 liang), Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, outer bark removed, coated with ginger juice, processed until fragrant, 2 liang), He Le Le Pi (Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus Pericarpium, 2 liang), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, skin and umbilicus removed, 1.5 liang), A Wei (Asini Corii Colla, ground, half liang).
The above nine ingredients are pounded, ground into powder. Mixed with refined honey into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Each dose is 30 pills, taken with warm water, at any time. If stool is hard/dry, add Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Qian Niu Zi (Pharbitidis Semen) each 1 liang.
To treat Fan Wei with chest and hypochondriac fullness, inability to eat, use Ju Pi Yin (Tangerine Peel Drink):
Chen Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, hot water, white pith removed, dried, 1 liang), He Le Le (Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus, roasted, pitted), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Yi Yi Ren (Coicis Semen), Gan Mu Gua (Chaenomelis Fructus, pulp removed, sliced, dried, each 1.5 liang).
The above five ingredients are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose is 3 qian bi, decocted in 1.5 zhan of water with 5 slices of Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger) until 1 zhan remains. Strain and take warm on an empty stomach. Repeat after walking five li.
To treat Fan Wei with no desire to eat, immediate regurgitation, emaciation and weakness, use Ban Xia Yin (Pinellia Drink):
Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed in hot water seven times to remove slipperiness, dried, 2 liang), Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, outer bark removed, processed with ginger juice, 1.5 liang), Nuo Mi (Oryza Sativa Var. Glutinosa, 2 he), Chen Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, hot water, white pith removed, dried, 1 liang), Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, sliced and dried, 1.5 liang).

To treat Wei Fan with incessant vomiting and inability to eat, use Ci Huang Wan (Realgar Pill):
Ci Huang (Realgar, 1 fen, ground), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, half fen, raw).
The above two ingredients are ground into powder. Mixed with "lan yin" (likely a specific liquid medium or typo for rice water/paste) to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 4 pills with a decoction of Wu Ye Cao (Five-leaved Herb) and Nuo Mi (Glutinous Rice).
To treat Wei Fan with vomiting and inability to eat, use Ban Xia Wan (Pinellia Pill):
Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed in hot water seven times, dried), Fu Long Gan (Fodi Cinereum/Dragon's House Earth, each 1 liang), Bai Fan (Alumen, calcined until dry), Qian Dan (Minii Preparatum, ground, each 3 fen).
The above four ingredients are pounded, ground into powder. Mixed with paste made from boiling flour in Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger) juice to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Each dose is 20-30 pills, taken with Sheng Jiang and Ju Pi Tang (Ginger and Tangerine Peel Decoction).
To treat long-standing Ge Qi and Fan Wei, where food eaten is vomited late at night, undigested, with phlegm-saliva above the diaphragm, occasional hematemesis, excess acid water in chest, constant vomiting of clear fluid, night vomiting until dawn, progressive emaciation, abdominal pain, alternating cold loose stools or constipation, use Wu Zhu Yu Wan (Evodia Pill):
Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus, stir-fried on tile, 3 fen), Hu Jiao (Piperis Longi Fructus), Ren Shen (Panacis Ginseng Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, crushed and dried, each half liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, half liang, half raw, half processed by soaking in vinegar seven times and slow-roasting wrapped in paper), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 1 liang, processed with juice of 4 liang Sheng Jiang in a clay pot until specific consistency retained), Bai Fan (Alumen, calcined to retain character, half liang).
