Discourse states: The condition of Ge Qi (Diaphragmatic Qi) with obstruction and choking is caused by excessive worry and overthinking, leading to the stagnation and blockage of Qi mechanism. When the Lung and Stomach are weak, Qi remains in the Huangmo (the area between the heart and diaphragm), forming stagnation in the chest and diaphragm. Consequently, the ascending and descending movements of Qi become obstructed. The throat is the passage for Qi to ascend and descend; if Qi is blocked and cannot flow freely, it results in a sensation of choking and fullness in the throat, resembling a plum pit stuck there, hindering swallowing. Hence, this is termed "Ge Qi with Throat Obstruction." Furthermore, Lung Qi connects upward to the throat, and the Stomach meridian connects outward to the pharynx. If the ascending and descending Qi mechanisms are orderly, and the Lung and Stomach remain in harmony, Yin and Yang will be balanced, and Ge Qi will naturally dissipate.
