It is stated that wind pathogen is the beginning of all diseases. If the body maintains clarity and purity (sufficient righteous qi), the muscle texture (cou li) will close and resist, so that even severe wind and toxic pathogens cannot cause harm. In individuals with weak constitutions, the essence and qi of the original organs are depleted, making them susceptible to wind pathogen invasion. Symptoms may include mental fright and palpitations, trembling of the hands and feet, and stiffness and spasm of tendons and vessels. All such conditions are caused by deficiency complicated by wind pathogen. The treatment principle is to add wind-dispelling agents to tonifying prescriptions.
