Discourse states: When accumulated qi remains in the abdomen for a long time without healing, forming a firm mass that cannot be moved by pushing, it is called "Zheng" (abdominal mass disease). This is caused by improper regulation of cold and heat, and irregular diet. It leads to weakness of the Qi of the fu and zang organs, causing food and drink to fail to digest. Upon palpation, the condition feels like a cup or plate firmly knotted together. If it persists for a long time, it causes emaciation of the body while the abdomen becomes distended, leading to death without resolution. Palpating the pulse reveals it to be wiry and deep; if it is firm and unyielding, it is a sign of death.
