It is stated that the manifestations of Shaoyang (Gallbladder) malaria are described in the *Neijing* as causing the body to feel flaccid and relaxed, with mild aversion to cold and mild fever. Patients dislike seeing people and feel apprehensive when they do. There is abundant heat and profuse sweating. Treatment involves needling the Shaoyang channel. This is because the Gallbladder is regarded as the "Official of Equilibrium," from which decision-making arises. When malarial pathogens invade externally, the Qi fails to remain secure, leading to constant apprehensiveness; due to excess pathogenic factors, there is abundant heat, and due to wind, there is sweating.
