Chart of the Year of Xinhai (Pig)

Jueyin Wind-Wood governs the Heaven (Si Tian), Shaoyang Ministerial-Fire governs the Earth (Zai Quan), and the Central Movement is Shao-Yu Water. The Water movement of the year is insufficient, causing the Qi transformation to operate later than the celestial timing. Wind transformation prevails above (Si Tian); on the left, it manifests as scorching transformation, and on the right, as cold transformation. Thus, the heavenly Qi is disturbed, and its administration is chaotic. Bitter transformation prevails below (Zai Quan); on the left, it manifests as clear/cold transformation, and on the right, as soft/gentle transformation. Thus, the earthly Qi is correct, and its commands are swift. Wind arises from high and distant places, and intense heat follows it. Clouds tend toward the Rain Mansion, and dampness transformation proceeds. Wind and Fire share the same virtue, corresponding above to Sui Xing (Jupiter) and Ying Huo (Mars). The corresponding grains are Cang (Green/Wood) and Dan (Red/Fire). The inter-grain governed by Tai-Shang (Metal) is mentioned. The depletion affects Jiao-type insects (Wood) and Yu-type insects (Fire). Wind, Dryness, and Hot-Fire alternate in victory and revenge. Wind diseases manifest in the upper part, Heat diseases in the lower part, and the manifestations of Wind-Dryness victory/revenge appear in the middle. The victory and revenge of Rain transformation and Wind transformation are the same; this is the degree of pathogenic Qi transformation. Wind transformation is three, Cold transformation is one, and Fire transformation is seven; this is the degree of normal transformation. In terms of organisms, Hair-type creatures are quiet, Feather-type creatures are nurtured; these are suitable for the year's produce. Shell-type creatures are depleted, and Cold toxicity does not arise; this is constrained by the earthly Qi. However, regarding the rising and falling of yearly Qi: Heavenly Qi is Yin and its transformation is deficient; Earthly Qi is Yang and its transformation is abundant. One must nourish the Source of Transformation to assist the Wood Qi governing the Heaven. Although the Source of Transformation is deficient, Water movement exists in the center; since Water generates Wood, the pathogenic Qi will be mild. One must support the Water of the Yearly Movement, aid what is insufficient, regulate the upper part with Pungent flavors, and regulate the lower part with Salty flavors. Those fearing Fire Qi should beware of reckless infringement. Before the midpoint of the year, Jueyin is dominant. If Wind excess occurs, the great void becomes dusty and dim, clouds and objects become disturbed, Cold generates Spring Qi, flowing water does not freeze, and people suffer from pain in the epigastrium at the heart's location, extending upward to support both hypochondria, obstruction of the diaphragm and pharynx, inability to swallow food, stiffness of the tongue root, vomiting after eating, cold diarrhea, abdominal distension, loose stools, masses (Jia), and urinary retention. The disease originates in the Spleen, diagnosed at the Chongyang pulse of the foot. The method is to level with Pungent-Cool, assist with Bitter-Sweet, use Sweet to relax, and use Sour to drain. After the midpoint of the year, Shaoyang dominates. If Fire excess occurs, flames shine brightly in the suburbs, cold and heat alternate, people suffer from dysentery with red and white discharge, lower abdominal pain, red urine, and in severe cases, bloody stools. The treatment method uses Salty-Cold, assists with Bitter-Pungent, uses Sour to astringe, and uses Bitter to vent. This year, Water movement is insufficient, recorded as "Dried Stream" (He Liu), which is called "Reverse Yang." The command of the Zang organs is not raised, while the transformation Qi flourishes. The growth Qi is announced, hibernating insects do not hide, the soil is moist, springs and wells decrease, grass and trees grow vigorously, flourishing and beautiful, full and abundant. Its Qi is stagnant, its function is seepage and drainage, its movement is hardness and stopping, its manifestation is dryness and withering. Its fruits are dates and apricots, its flesh is moist/fleshy, its grains are millet and broomcorn millet, its flavors are Sweet and Salty, its color is Dark/Black, its animals are pigs and cattle, its insects are Scale-type, its skin shows dustiness and opacity, its sounds are Yu (Bird) and Gong (Earth). In humans, diseases include Wei-Jue (flaccidity and cold limbs) and hardness below, following Earth transformation; diseases include Long (difficulty in urination), caused by pathogenic invasion of the Kidney. The method is appropriate to harmonize with Bitter flavors.

First Qi period: From Hai hour on the day of Great Cold in Gengxu year to You hour on the day of Spring Equinox in this year, totaling 60 days and 87.5 ke. The Main Position is Shao-Jiao Wood, the Guest Position is Yangming Metal, and the Central Movement is Water. Metal overcomes Wood, with Water movement intervening. Cold begins to肃杀 (cleanse and kill), and killing Qi arrives. People suffer from cold in the lower right. It is appropriate to treat the Yangming Guest with Sour to tonify, Pungent to drain, and Bitter to泄 (discharge). Year grain should be Green (Cang), inter-grain should be Millet (Shu).

Second Qi period: From You hour on the day of Spring Equinox to Wei hour on the day of Grain Full, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Tai-Zheng Fire, the Guest Position is Taiyang Water, and the Central Movement is Water. The Qi and Movement are the same. Cold does not depart, flowers and snow remain like ice, killing Qi transforms again, frost descends, and the tops of common grasses wither. Cold rains arrive frequently, Yang Qi recovers and transforms. People suffer from heat in the middle. It is appropriate to treat the Taiyang Guest with Bitter to tonify, Salty to drain, Bitter to firm, and Pungent to moisten. Year grain should be Green (Cang), inter-grain should be Proso Millet (Ji). In this Qi, strictly avoid infringing upon Cold.

Third Qi period: From Shen hour on the day of Grain Full to Wu hour on the day of Great Heat, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Tai-Zheng Fire, the Guest Position is Jueyin Wood, and the Central Movement is Water. Heavenly governance spreads, and wind rises on time. People suffer from tearing, tinnitus, trembling, and dizziness. It is appropriate to treat the Jueyin Guest with Pungent to tonify, Sour to drain, and Sweet to relax. Year grain should be Green (Cang), inter-grain should be Rice (Dao).

Fourth Qi period: From Wu hour on the day of Great Heat to Chen hour on the day of Autumn Equinox, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Shao-Gong Earth, the Guest Position is Shaoyin Fire, and the Central Movement is Water. Muggy heat and dampness contend and struggle in the upper left. People suffer from jaundice and swelling. It is appropriate to treat the Shaoyin Guest with Salty to tonify, Sweet to drain, and Sour to astringe. Year grain should be Red (Dan), inter-grain should be Beans (Dou).

Fifth Qi period: From Si hour on the day of Autumn Equinox to Mao hour on the day of Light Snow, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Tai-Shang Metal, the Guest Position is Taiyin Earth, and the Central Movement is Water. Dryness and Dampness alternate in victory. Deep Yin spreads, cold air reaches the body, wind and rain occur. It is appropriate to treat the Taiyin Guest with Sweet to tonify, Bitter to drain, and Sweet to relax. Year grain should be Red (Dan), inter-grain should be Hemp seeds (Ma).

Final Qi period: From Mao hour on the day of Light Snow to Chou hour on the day of Great Cold, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Shao-Yu Water, the Guest Position is Shaoyang Fire, and the Central Movement is Water. Feared Fire commands, Yang Qi greatly transforms, hibernating insects emerge, flowing water does not freeze, earthly Qi erupts, grass grows, and people feel comfortable. Their diseases are warm epidemics. It is appropriate to treat the Shaoyang Guest with Salty to tonify, Sweet to drain, and [text missing] with Salty. Year grain should be Red (Dan), inter-grain should be Beans (Dou). This is the transformation of the Six Qi.

At the transition of yearly Qi, if the Si Tian (Heavenly) Qi is excessive, then Yangming revenges; if the Zai Quan (Earthly) Qi is excessive, then Taiyang revenges. To treat victory and revenge, apply their respective methods.
